"Rick came out to my home in Alexandria, gave me an estimate, and started the work not long thereafter.  I bought the house in December, which has a lower level that was supposedly finished. The truth be told, it was totally uninhabitable.  It included a bathroom that was done in the 1960s and looked like it was all a do-it-yourself special.  They gutted the bathroom, main area, and hallway, then rebuilt it from scratch.  The bathroom it now totally updated and I can use all the living space.  To top it off, they did a fantastic job of installing a ceiling over the air ducts, plumbing, and wires in the hallway where there had been no ceiling.   Rick gave it a polished look at a fantastic price.  In addition, he'll tell you if he thinks there's a less expensive way to achieve the same end, and the dos and don'ts.  If you hire him, you won't regret it.

"Their price was lower than everyone else. They were able to come and do it when we needed it done. If I had an issue they would come back an take care of it. There was one issue I overlooked and they came back and took care of it. The guy was very nice and I trusted him. The guy fixed our doorbell by going to home depot, buying one, and installing it but just charged us for the doorbell and not for labor. "Nafi, as the owner of Home Design Center, visited our home and evaluated our situation. He gave us advice on what was needed to make the basement a really enticing room that we would want to spend time in. He listened and took the time to understand what we were looking for.  We started with flooring.  We wanted a low-maintenance floor that would stand up well and be mold-resistant. He invited us into the showroom on Tyco Road in Vienna, VA to look at different types of flooring that met these requirements. Nafi was there to advice us on color schemes and lighting. He recommended we have an accent wall, which we decided to go with, and aesthetically it makes for a much more interesting room.  
When the flooring and paint were ordered and arrived, he and his team got to work.  They are organized, and worked carefully and efficiently. They re-did all the crown molding, and ensured there were multiple coats of paint on the walls  They don't nickle and dime. For example, the ceiling required many coats of paint. They kept putting on the additional coats of paint until it looked right. They will do what they need to do to exceed customer expectations. They had to re-do the banister because the original one -- an amateur job from the original owner -- did not look right with the refurbished basement.  He essentially provided the banister at no extra charge. The project came together very well -- the recessed lighting, flooring, walls, crown molding, painting -- all were completed within the timeline and budget we agreed on.
I believe Nafi and his team are dedicated professionals. They do quality work; they are ethical. They do not want to sell you something you're not interested in, or over charge. They give you honest work -- and provide quality -- at reasonable prices. They have my highest recommendation.

"Jim arrived right on time.  He immediately commented on the difficulty of doing the project.  He told me that he would have to make a lot of holes in the dry wall (on the ceiling).  We went to the basement to see if the work could be done there easier.  He took one of the current recessed lighting fixtures out and determined that he would have to make not just four holes for the lights but extra holes as our home's structure did not make the addition of new lighting easy.  We went back upstairs to reconsider the room that currently has no overhead lighting.  He said he'd have cut some holes before he would know exactly how difficult it would be but that was not the problem....I just needed to understand that the ceiling (and one hole in the wall) would then need to be fixed.  The company does have a handyman division but Jim didn't know anymore about it other than they provided free estimates.
I phoned Walls Electrical Services and got Brian.  He politely told me that generally the cost is about $250 a hole.  I couldn't believe it!  Brian then said that it might not that much in total but whatever it was, the cost would begin at $250.  Jim told me that he was going to have to make a number of cuts and it would be "messy" - which I took to mean he didn't know how many cuts it would be and that he would have to cut a hole thru each tressel (I think that is it - they are the studs in the ceiling) to wire one light to the other.  With that on my mind, I asked Brian if I could cancel the job.  He said I could but it would cost me a fee for Jim coming out.  I asked how much.  He quoted a price he said was his commercial price, then asked when Jim had arrived (he had been in my home for less than an hour
