"Service was excellent from start to finish. David was very responsive to questions regarding my proposal and setting up appointment . Install date was on time. Work was completed by Igor and Milton. The result was a beautiful closet which blended with the rest of my finished basement. The look exceeded my expectations"
"We were delighted with the outcome of the installation of a new surround on our fireplace. This was a re-do of an initial installation by another contractor that did not work out too well! I was nervous about getting this done right and Kevin put me at ease immediately. He was precise, highly skilled, and very aware that we were not happy with the first installation. It turned out beautifully."
Hello!!! I’m Alex Ruffing, welcome to my page! \n\nI’m a born & raised Northern Virginian with 19 years in construction services (and counting). I started young, with family, on area commercial jobs; Wolftrap, Metro Garages and Park & Rides, and many of our shopping plazas. Then spent some time traveling the east coast building in the industrial sector; concrete, sky rises. Now I am happy to be home and operating as a Handyman(+). \n\nHandyman because I mostly operate independently, preforming all kinds of repair and remodeling opportunities. \n(+) because I am well connected with reputable tradespeople in the area, and I always happy to discuss larger residential projects; backyard pavilions, outdoor kitchens, shotcrete pools, additions, movie theaters, bars, and wine cellars. \n\nMy cell phone is (571)320-8605. Do not hesitate to call or text so we can discuss solutions regarding your home’s next repair, remodel, or improvement. \n\nWith best wishes, thank you. I look forward to hearing from you.\n\n
"I would give CIC 6 stars if the system allowed. Christian and his associate were able to assemble the bed, TV console, lift-top coffee table, and so much more. They did the work quickly and everything worked perfectly. We were so happy that when we purchased more furniture that needed assembling the next day, we called him and he was able to fit us right in. Fair prices and great customer service. I highly recommend them."
"Beyond my expectations! The old door was condensing inside and out, we knew there would be extensive damage to the wood framing and floor area beneath. It was worse than I expected. Mike installed the new door, created a way for our pet door to fit while still being able to LOCK the slider! Over three days - the tear out, purchasing of many materials, repairing the frame, installing the new door, repainting/restoring the interior and exterior to BETTER than they previously appeared, and rigging that new and improved pet door - he worked diligently. I have never had a workman that was so neat! Cleaning up debris, bagging trash, maintaining the work area organized and safe. I have already recommended him to friends, and they have all said how great he was! I have many other projects planned, and will not hesitate to call Home Remedies again."
"Mark installed two stair railings, installed and set up our door nest and hub, lit the pilot light on our gas fireplace and a couple of other small jobs. Mark arrived on time and was ready to get right to work. He worked consistently throughout the morning explaining what he was doing. He was professional and friendly. We are having him return for some other work next week."
"Bobby has done a number of projects over the years, including installing new faucets and recessed lighting, replacing a new backsplash (tile), light fixtures (indoor and out), painting, replacing door knobs, and the like. He even installed our tetherball for the kids. He is always friendly and responsive. He is our go-to handyman for almost everything!"
In Springfield, habits like overwatering lawns or letting mulch touch your foundation can create excess moisture, drawing in termites and ants. Storing firewood or debris near the house, especially during the damp season, provides shelter for rodents and insects. Leaving pet food out or not sealing basement cracks—common with Springfield’s clay-heavy soil—can undermine pest control, making it easier for pests to return and infest your home.
Helpful?
For effective pest control in Springfield, begin by scheduling a moisture inspection for basements and crawl spaces, since local clay soil retains water. Trim shrubs and trees away from your foundation, and repair any drainage or plumbing leaks. Seal exterior gaps before fall to block rodents and insects. Plan ant and termite control treatments ahead of peak season, and ensure professionals have clear access to all exterior walls for thorough service.
Helpful?
In Springfield, signs like musty odors, bubbling paint, or water stains often indicate hidden moisture that attracts termites and carpenter ants. Small piles of sawdust, pinholes in wood, or sagging floorboards can signal structural damage from pests. Noticing increased rodent or ant activity during mild winter days, or spotting flying ants in early spring, suggests a minor issue could quickly escalate into a costly repair if not addressed.
Helpful?
Springfield’s humid subtropical climate creates ideal conditions for pests like mosquitoes, termites, and ants to thrive nearly year-round. Hot, damp summers boost mosquito and termite activity, while mild winters allow rodents and spiders to remain active indoors. Heavy rainfall and the area’s clay soil often lead to moisture problems, attracting carpenter ants and silverfish. Proximity to wooded areas increases wildlife pests and tick concerns, requiring tailored pest control strategies.
Helpful?
Homeowners in Springfield often rely on over-the-counter sprays without addressing underlying moisture problems, which are prevalent due to the area’s climate and soil. Many neglect to treat exterior entry points, crawl spaces, or attic vents, allowing ants, rodents, and spiders easy access. Waiting until pests are visible or ignoring seasonal preventive treatments, especially before spring rains, can lead to persistent infestations and recurring pest issues.
