"Beware of shipping issues with this company. Ordered an ice maker installation kit on 10/10/25. Shipping was due no later than 10/20 according to company and FedEx tracking. FedEx tracking showed the package at their facility for 8 days without moving beginning on 10/15. Called FedEx 3 times. Each time they said they cannot find package and I have to contact shipper. Shipper has to make a claim, they will not mark it as lost. Called Appliance Parts Pros twice. Each time they say FedEx has to mark package lost before they will do anything. They also state they have to wait 14 days from them before doing anything because of their contract with FedEx. I don't care about their contract, I want what was ordered and paid for. Just going in circles with them and FedEX. If they shipped after 14 days it would be 22 days from that point, 32 days from the date of order if they shipped it that day. Long story short, I am a first time home buyer and was convinced to take a home warranty in exchange of replacing my HVAC which was from 1990. In January I began the process of trying to have the unit replaced before my warranty expired in May and the hot summer days returned. I battled with the contracting company for 5 months and they dropped the contract 4 days before my warranty expired. After all the stress and anxiety I decided to let the warranty expire and reached out the Garner's. Dave was at my place almost immediately, they were able to find a "unicorn unit" to fit my special situation, and had everything done in less than 2 weeks at an extremely competitive price. I grew up with the Garner's so I already felt at ease having their company take over, but I did not expect them to exceed expectations to that extent. Brandon, Zach and Nolan came to my house to do the change out. They were polite, clean, respectful and all around amazing. They even mopped up my hallway floors when they were done! When it comes to painting your bricks, you’ve got a few options. Traditionally, lime wash (a mix of aged, burned, and crushed lime and water) was used to whitewash brick or stone. You can also find premixed brick whitewash paint that cuts out a few steps and lets you get started faster. If you already have the tools, like a miter saw, a stud finder, and a nail gun or hammer, installing shiplap costs $500 to $1,000 for supplies. You’ll also spend $200 to $2,200 for the cost of an electric fireplace if you decide to add one into your setup.

You can also hire a carpenter for $35 to $100 per hour, plus the cost of materials, to install shiplap around your fireplace. If you need help installing a fireplace before adding the shiplap, labor can cost $225 to $2,180 for fireplace installation costs. 

If you’re deciding between limewash versus whitewash, know that both have a chalky matte appearance. Limewash is made from lime, water, and sometimes pigment, while whitewash consists of lime, water, white chalk, and binders (though you can get a similar look with watered-down white paint). Whitewash has fewer options for color customization, and it sits on surfaces instead of being absorbed into them, which can trap moisture. Whitewashing costs less—about $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.

How long limewash will last depends on the quality of the application and the porosity of the surface. For example, a limewash on brick will last five to seven years. If it's a home exterior application, exposure to specific weather conditions is also a factor. Limewash tends to develop a patina over time, and its natural look masks damage and imperfections well.

If you want to avoid damaging your home's brick, you should always use a stain specifically formulated for masonry projects. These stains are designed to penetrate the porous surface of the brick and bond with it, unlike paints, which sit on the surface and are prone to peeling and flaking. Look for stains labeled for use on brick or other masonry surfaces. Avoid using regular paint on brick, as it will not adhere well and will likely lead to future maintenance issues.
