"I hired these guys for a garage door install. Overall I am pleased with the experience. The name of the company is misleading "insulation" as this firm does quite a bit more than just insulation. While delayed to arrive due to a previous job, they stayed on-site until the garage was completely installed."

"Earth Right Mid-Atlantic was one of several companies we consulted, trying to stop wallet-draining heat loss in our 135 year-old home. Corey and his team offered a novel solution w/ reflective foil insulation and a solar-powered attic vent system. Their solution was a fraction of the cost of the other solutions proposed for our home. The cost difference was so great, we at first doubted their approach. They weren't just patient in explaining their technology - they came back twice to explain their proposal. They took the time to win our trust and our business. Once we signed-on with Earth Right Mid-Atlantic, they performed exactly as they said they would. They were on-time, diligent, and thorough. Their installer worked far into the night to complete the job on the day they had promised - dealing with our old house's surprises with no complaints or excuses. They did a great installation job. Earth Right Mid-Atlantic's proposal proved to be spot-on and their solution has been great. For the first time in all the years we've owned it, our holds temperature inside no matter what the outside is doing. I've been surprised by the silence of not hearing the HVAC run. I wondered at first if it was broken. Then I realized the truth - Earth Right Mid-Atlantic's insulating technology keeps our HVAC benefits inside our house. Our system was shutting off because it did not have to run! We've been very, very happy with the energy savings and the huge improvement in the comfort of our home. Thank you, Earth Right Mid-Atlantic."

"It went great. The workers were very professional and did their work without any need to consult with me. Rob is so personable and easy to deal with that it makes it a pleasure to have him direct the work. He is someone I trust to tell me what is needed and then to make sure his crew has done the job well. He has been working to make my crawl space moisture free for a few years, and I often get compliments on it from other company's workers, like HVAC and pest control. If they saw my walk-in attic area now, they would probably have compliments on it. It looks terrific with its shiny thermal bubble insulation. I am attaching a picture but it doesn't do it credit because the strong LED light and shiny material makes it hard to take a good picture. They put a foam sheet on the back of the attic door and it also has shiny foil on it. They had previously put fiberglass insulation in this area and soffits or something like that (can't remember exact name) to make sure the air flow from outside is sufficient. I am thrilled that he also put the insulation on the floor, because I think that shiny stuff will deter mice, who reportedly don't things like aluminum foil. Maybe this area will stay cleaner and problem free since I have taken other pest control measures."

"I know a lot of people hate them, but they've always been, pretty much with anything that has gone wrong, they've been really responsive. We used another one previous to them, I can't remember their name, I wish I could because I really would want give them an "F". American Home Shield has been good. The last time we had something done, it was just over what our deductible was, which, I want to say, is like $100. They pretty much covered everything else, which was a few hundred dollars."

"We are very satisfied with the completed project. The workers were skilled and easy to communicate with, and patient with changes and delays caused by us as the project developed. It was necessary to raise the floor level of the porch a couple of inches to match the indoor floor level, and to adjust for the slight slope in the porch floor. That was done expertly and the finished hardwood floor is perfect in both areas. The sunroom is great and much more functional than a screened porch in Washington’s climate. The insulated glass does an excellent job of keeping both hot and cold out. The original ceiling was kept (our preference), and they added insulation above it. On the down side, better and more complete drawings of the kitchen plan would have been helpful to avoid some minor misunderstandings, delay, and changes. Remodel USA does not have a showroom, and it took some time to receive cabinet samples. We were left on our own to find a place to see the cabinet hardware from the catalog that we were asked to choose from. The tile distributor they work with (Sita Tile) has a good showroom and selection. Some of the drywall finishing was less than satisfactory and painting is specifically excluded in the standard contract, but these were both easy enough to take care of afterward. Flexible ducting rather than the recommended rigid pipe was used to connect the exhaust fan to the original exhaust location, even after mentioning this when seeing the flexible duct package on the floor. I can't give a rating for punctuality, because we had the luxury of not needing the work to be completed quickly. The project was a bit delayed in starting, but then once started it went well, not counting some delays that were caused by us while we made final material choices."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

In Roanoke, persistent high energy bills, uneven temperatures between rooms, or continuous HVAC cycling often mean insulation is underperforming. Look for compressed, damp, or discolored insulation, musty smells, or visible mold, especially in crawl spaces and attics. Recurring ice dams, pest infestations, or drafts near exterior walls also suggest that your insulation service may need to be updated for better energy efficiency.

Helpful?

In Roanoke, the humid subtropical climate brings both hot summers and cold winters, making moisture control and energy efficiency essential for insulation service projects. Closed-cell spray foam or vapor barriers help prevent mold and mildew caused by high humidity. Scheduling installation during spring or fall avoids extreme temperatures, ensuring proper curing and performance. Addressing thermal bridging and attic insulation is key for year-round comfort.

Helpful?

Roanoke homes with stone or brick foundations, older electrical systems, or multiple additions may present insulation challenges. Watch for rooms above unheated garages, complex rooflines, or crawl spaces, as these areas often require specialized insulation techniques. Homes built before 1980 or with visible signs of moisture, settling, or previous DIY insulation work should be evaluated by a local insulation professional for potential complications.

Helpful?

Combining insulation service with upgrades like air sealing, attic ventilation, or HVAC system improvements in Roanoke can boost energy efficiency and minimize disruption. For example, adding attic insulation during a roof replacement or improving duct insulation when upgrading your HVAC system streamlines the process. Coordinating these projects helps reduce labor time and ensures your home’s thermal envelope is thoroughly addressed.

Helpful?

In Roanoke, start spring by checking attic insulation for moisture or settling from winter. Summer is ideal for monitoring indoor humidity and inspecting for condensation near windows or ducts. In fall, seal gaps around doors and windows to improve air sealing before colder weather. Winter is the time to look for drafts, ice dams, or uneven heating, which may signal insulation or air leakage issues.
