"David and his team were very professional and the work they did was excellent---we could tell the difference the next day. The temperature on the 2nd floor is several degree lower than before due to the new insulation and feels much more comfortable. David has solid knowledge regarding insulation and he explains things clearly. Definitely would recommend David and Prudent Homes to my friends and neighbors."

"I've been trying to find an expert in insulation for months to come out and tell me out to properly insulate around a removed chimney and Comfenergy was the expert I needed. Even though the insulation part of the job was too small for Comfenergy (wasn't above their minimum quote value) they were happy to give me their expert advice and I appreciate the time spent as I now know what to ask the roofing contractor to do in order to insulate this correctly. Thanks!"

"We had a great experience with Discount Energy Services. They insulated our entire attic and crawl space, and from start to finish they were professional, responsive, and easy to work with. The turnaround time was impressively quick, the quality of the work was excellent, and we felt the value was very good for the scope of the project. The team was efficient, knowledgeable, and clearly took pride in doing the job well. We really appreciated how smoothly the whole process went and would gladly recommend Discount Energy Services to anyone looking for high-quality insulation work."

"Very easy to work with. Their repncame out and did a free home energy audit in a timely manner. They then go over over everything they find. He walked me through everything he found. The list he came up was priced out but was definitely a little more than I wanted to spend...but he worked with me to figure out what items to fix that would give me the most bang for my buck at the cost wanted to spend. We definitely notice an improvement in the house from the fixes. I would recommend these guys."

Small jobs welcome

"Capital Insulation just finished a two-day project at my home, removing old, poor quality attic insulation and replaced it with 21 inches of blown fiber glass insulation. They sealed joints, insulated and sealed around sky lights, recessed lights, put new covers over recessed ceiling lights, etc. Jon, team lead, is awesome, a true professional, and task focused to deliver superior results. The crew worked together well with a positive work attitude which I admired. You can see that they enjoy their work and take pride in what they do. Since most of us home owners don't get up into our attics much, if at all, it is important to find a company you know will do the work you pay for. This is a high-quality company with integrity that will do outstanding work for you and you will no longer need to worry about what is going on in your attic. Karl, the company owner, was also in the attic doing work at my home and pointing out to me things he found and offered solutions for fixing problems"

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

For maximum stability, install grab bars on wall studs, as this will adequately support the weight. However, if you don't have access to studs, you can get by with wall anchors. If opting for the latter, choose specialty hollow wall anchors.

In framing, studs are placed at 16-inch intervals to coincide with the typical spacing of wall materials such as drywall or plywood. This spacing is called "on-center" and is necessary for maintaining structural stability and efficient use of materials. The 16-inch spacing also helps to distribute the weight evenly across the building's structure. For those looking to cut material costs and improve energy efficiency, 24-inch stud spacing can be employed through a method called "advanced framing". This requires careful planning and adherence to local building codes to ensure structural integrity.

Through expert matching of texture and paint for an invisible repair.

Yes, you can hammer a nail into a wall stud. But before you do, it’s important to confirm that you’re actually nailing into a stud—and not wiring, pipes, or ductwork. To check, find a few more studs in the wall, then measure to make sure they’re either 16 or 24 inches apart.

Furring strips, thin strips of wood or metal, are not always required for ceiling drywall installation. If the ceiling surface is even and in good condition, drywall can be directly attached to the ceiling joists using screws. However, furring strips become essential when dealing with irregular surfaces or when additional insulation or soundproofing is needed. They create a level substrate for attaching the drywall. Ultimately, the decision to use furring strips depends on the condition of the existing ceiling and the specific requirements of the project.
