"Alfredo and his team (Jose, then Pablo) did an excellent job in fixing many cracks in two bedrooms-turned-home offices, then sanding and painting the walls, ceilings, trim, and closets. They also patched a hole in the basement ceiling that a plumber left from a previous job. Alfredo is a smart and passionate business owner and does his work with quality and care. He estimated that the job would take 5 days, and it was completed in 4 with no corners being cut. They all were friendly and customer-focused throughout the job, and they were helpful in moving furniture that we were not able to do beforehand. I was impressed that Alfredo himself was here the entire time and didn't leave to work on other jobs during the day. I would absolutely work with Alfredo and Solis/Wall Covering Country in the future and have several projects in the queue right now. The estimate was higher than the other two I received, but I was not convinced that I would receive the same quality of work and excellent customer service with the less-expensive firms. We are glad we went with Alfredo."

"We hired Wow 1 Day for 2 separate projects and each one was high quality work with professional service and communications. The first was after we had a flood and needed to get our basement painted after water remediation. The second time we use the company to repaint our entire house. They were great helping with color consultations. We let our kids have some say over there rooms but the company was great in helping with that process. They also helped us be selective about trim and doors that didn't need to repainted to keep us on budget. I would recommend this company without reservation."

"Bottom Line: This is the second time using Manor Works, although the first time for carpentry. I hired them based primarily on previous excellent work on external painting of home, including complicated faux painting. Unfortunately, for carpentry they suffered from a serious quality control problem, and I would not use them again in this capacity. Communication: Scheduling the initial estimate was easy and timely, while communications continued throughout the process. Scoping Work: This is probably the most important first step in any project and often either messed up or purposely inflated. I needed pre-painted crown molding installed in one room. We requested professional-level carpentry to absolutely minimize any gaps between molding joints, the ceiling, and the walls – essentially a caulkless project. With the various angles in the walls and ceiling, we knew some tricky detailed cuts were going to be required. Quality of work. Frankly, 75-80% of contractors fail here for three primary reasons: a horrible handoff of details from the estimator to the onsite project foreman, project foreman and/or workers making assumptions vice asking the customer, and lack of quality detailed work. All three seemed to have come into play on this project. I knew I had a problem when the contractor asked me for the caulk. Because some boards were cut short and some angles were imprecise, there was a good amount of misalignment between boards and serious gaps between the board and the wall. In the third image, the corner of the board is broken out, and the carpenter wrote on a portion of the finished wall. That wall was painted in a textured, two-tone, faux appearance that takes time and expertise. It's not a simple paint this spot touchup. Due to the dark color of the trim, some of the joint misalignments I could hide with detailed painting and very precise and limited caulking, but the areas where it was chipped out and some of the wall gaps , especially where you can look up and see the nails going through, had to be completely replaced - meaning new crown molding, sanding, priming, painting, cutting, and nailing — both time and money for me. I realize this work can be challenging when the walls are at various angles. It's meticulous and takes a great deal of patience and care. I do my own baseboard, shoe molding, and short runs of crown, so I know it could have been done better than this. A previous contractor recently did it better in our powder and mud room. Pricing: Price was the best of three highly ranked Angie’s List companies, but in this case, you really do get what you pay for. It was very disappointing"

I found their attention to detail and upfront pricing to be very refreshing and honest. Further, once we agreed on the deal terms, they were able to schedule the work within a week. Their painting crew was quick, clean and very respectful to my family and I am very happy with their work and would recommend them to others. Word of mouth advertising is more reliable and beneficial to me, and I cannot give them any better of a recommendation than I will be giving their names and contact information to my friends. "I didn't have a great experience with HAL Co. They take FOREVER to return calls/emails. The day they were scheduled to come replace my fence they no-showed and I had to call the office around 4 pm to find out they weren't coming because a job was running late. The rescheduled installation was a day I was in the office. The crew said the outlet in my back yard wasn't working, so they left without calling me or ringing the doorbell to ask about it (the circuit just needed to be reset, which my partner at home could have done). I didn't find out until several hours later when the office called to tell me the crew had left. The fence finally got installed, and a few days later a neighbor found nails in two of his tires. The crew claimed they performed a metal sweep of the area, but now the neighbor is trying to get me to replace his tires. Finally, the gate latch got damaged somehow, possibly in a storm that happened a few days after the fence install, and HAL wanted $130 to replace the latch. I bought a latch kit off Amazon for $30 and did it myself."

"While we are generally satisfied with the fresh look of the newly painted surfaces, not much care was taken with the fence staining. The fence is old so we expected some uneven stain, but several interior borders were missed and there are boards with stain runs and drips which looks sloppy. In addition, paint dripped onto our siding when the back shutters were being painted, and wasn't cleaned off. Scraping and painting the iron railing on the front steps takes a lot of work, and we were going to do it ourselves, but were assured by Solution that they would do a thorough job with scraping, priming, and painting. However, within 5 months, the paint was already chipping off, and we're going to have to do it ourselves anyhow. We were less satisfied with the project management and communication from the company regarding the project. We got a quick estimate visit (we accepted the same day and provided paint and stain colors 2 days later) and assurance that we would be contacted with the start date within a few days. I emailed Solution after 3 weeks of no communication from them and was promptly given some date options, leaving me to wonder when we would have eventually been contacted. We scheduled date 2 weeks from then, and the workman showed up on the scheduled start date with no materials because he did not know the paint and stain colors, although we had provided them. When I provided the information again to the office, I was told they didn't work with the particular brand of stain I had chosen; they could have been up front with this and saved me an extra trip to Home Depot. To continue, the workman power washed the fence and then left without doing any prep work. To our minds, he could have started scraping the front railing, or gone and purchased the materials and got started on the priming. It turned into a longer job with less on-site workmen than I was told when asking questions during the estimate. The workmen also asked whether the wood under the deck needed stained, although it was stated on the estimate. We went with Solution Painting in part because of the good reviews that were posted for the company, but I don't think we would use them again."
