"100% Reccomend to anyone who needs a structural enginner. Chris is best structural engineer I have ever met! Valid license with the city so knows the code and standards. I needed him to verify what a previous structural engineer said was all cosmetic fire damage, in a home I was considering buying, was actually a huge strutural damage that needed full replacement of 8 joists and reconstruction of the entire shingle roof. He crawls into the crawlspaces and gets to every detail. Fun fact, biggest problem is usually moisture and that is actually bad drainage, so if youre reading this check where the water goes from your gutter spouts and hope its going 15ft away from your home. I highly recomend his services for any structural enginnering concerns, aka your attics/roof your beams/joists, and your crawlspace/basement. Any cracks inside your house as well."

"I was highly impressed with Systematic Engineering. Jennifer from their main office was very cordial and friendly in setting up my appointment. The company's President, Frank, arrived promptly and gave me a professional and thorough assessment of what I needed to know about my property. I will definitely call on them again!"

"Foundation is great and they were very pleasant until check cleared. Did not clean up after completing foundation and driveway. I have boards sitting in a pile in my yard that do not belong there. They did not start the wall because they could not get engineer drawings completed and now they will not return phone calls or messages. I'm very disappointed and disheartened since this is the 2nd contractor from Anji that has been unable to complete this job."

"All the services was excellent. We really like their communication. They're in constant contact with us. They did a really good job in taking pictures and showing us, we were pretty miles away. They really did well on staying on their timeline. Very nice crew, friendly, polite, they worked really hard. They're people are great to work with. We were really lucky to find them. We are very much satisfied with the services that they did. I would highly recommend them. Actually, we already recommend them to other people. We had them come back for some repairs, we were very pleased with their follow ups."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

Many horizontal cracks in home foundations result from water and soil pressure from outside of the building or from a footing that is shifting. Under those circumstances, horizontal cracks are a structural problem that requires repair before they become worse and more difficult to fix. However, in very specific cases, thin horizontal cracks may simply be a cosmetic blemish due to concrete shrinkage.

A structural engineer's report provides a professional assessment of a property's structural condition. It typically includes an evaluation of the foundation, key structural elements like roof trusses, floor joists, studs, beams, and rafters. The report will also contain a detailed description of the engineer's findings, often supported by photographs, and provide recommendations to correct any identified issues. Depending on the scope of the inspection, it might also include an assessment of property drainage, potential issues from environmental conditions like extreme weather or tree placement, and an estimated time and cost for any recommended repairs.

Accurate measurements, sturdy materials, and seamless integration with other structures.

The depth of any foundation style depends on your climate and how deep the frost line is, as building code requires that the footers of a foundation—which are built into a monolithic slab—sit at least a foot below the frost line. At the southern tip of Florida, for example, a monolithic slab foundation would only need to sit 12 inches under the soil at the widest parts. On some parts of the Canadian border, the frost line is 100 inches, which would mean a minimum of 112 inches, which is prohibitively deep for a monolithic slab.

No, beams are the primary load-bearers for flooring or roofing systems, and they distribute the weight of the structure to your foundational supports, while joists bear far less weight and distribute their loads to the beams. Beams are usually thicker and longer, and they have support posts or foundation walls beneath them for support.
