"James came out to price install of a box to plug in my portable generator. After we started talking and me asking questions James was able to give me an outstanding price on a whole house Generac generator with panel upgrade and included a whole house surge protector. They ran into additional costs with running the gas line but James kept to his word and honored the original price! The crew were professional and proficient in their work! Marcie was outstanding with communication and explaining any questions I had! I would definitely recommend this company and would use J&M for any future electrical needs!"

"I have been hiring Cody Malone since we purchased our house in July 2012. They have switched out outlets, installed indoor ceiling fans, installed outdoor ceiling fans, ran electrical to my outdoor water feature and switched out my light fixtures. I plan to hire them again when I add electric to my detached garage. They always do a great job and arrive when they say they will. I have never had a single issue and they have been to my house for no less than six different projects!"

"Tolliver Electrical did a commercial job for me at Fleetpride. (a heavy duty truck parts store) The company did an excellent job in completing the electrical work before the staff reported back to work the following morning. Tolliver Electrical is the only electrical company that I call on for all my electrical needs"

"It went great. I have used Electric Solutions of Richmond three times thus far. I could not be any more pleased with the company. Joe (the electrician) is so easygoing and amazing to work with. It is great to be able to upgrade fixtures, fans, plugs, etc. in my older home knowing the work will be done right and at a cost that is more than fair. They are fast, efficient, and very affordable. I highly recommend this company for any electrical needs a homeowner might require. Cathy K"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Combining electrical work with other upgrades in Glen Allen is often efficient, especially during kitchen remodels or bathroom renovations. Coordinating projects can minimize disruptions, reduce repeat visits from contractors, and help streamline inspections. For homes in neighborhoods like Twin Hickory or Wyndham, bundling electrical upgrades with HVAC or lighting improvements can also help ensure compliance with HOA guidelines and make scheduling easier for both you and your electrician.

Helpful?

Electrical upgrades in Glen Allen homes often impact other systems. For example, adding a heat pump, smart thermostat, or electric vehicle charger may require panel upgrades and adjustments to HVAC wiring. Security systems, sump pumps, and internet equipment can also be affected if circuits are updated. Reviewing your home’s layout and consulting a local electrician ensures that essential systems remain functional during electrical work.

Helpful?

Completing electrical projects in Glen Allen enhances daily living by supporting home offices, smart home upgrades, and electric vehicle charging. Upgraded panels allow for modern appliances and outdoor features like landscape lighting or pool equipment. Enhanced safety comes from updated GFCI protection and surge protection, while generator-ready panels help Glen Allen homes stay comfortable and functional during frequent summer storms or unexpected outages.

Helpful?

Certain Glen Allen home features can complicate electrical projects. Split-level layouts, slab foundations, or vaulted ceilings make running new wiring more challenging. Finished basements, limited crawl space access, or heavy attic insulation often require creative routing for new circuits. If you live in a community with strict HOA rules, these may also impact where and how electrical upgrades can be installed or modified.

Helpful?

In Glen Allen, you may need to redo electrical work if you notice outdated cloth-wrapped wiring, rust or corrosion on breaker panels, or missing GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, or outdoor spaces. Other warning signs include evidence of moisture damage in basements, pest activity in attics, overcrowded electrical panels, or visible splices and wires without junction boxes—especially in older homes or after recent additions.
