But then they were not able to do the more expensive option so they went and got the part for the lower price option. But ultimately they charged me for the higher price option. "Not Recommended for Thermostat Replacement — Unreasonable and Unfair $700 Charge I do not recommend Glenmont Air Conditioning & Heating for thermostat replacement work. I was charged $700 for a simple thermostat replacement, which I believe was unreasonably high and unfair. I was under the impression that the quoted estimate represented the maximum expected cost only if the technician had to perform additional wiring or complex installation work. If you want to install an Ecobee or any other type of thermostat, you can simply YouTube the installation, which provides step-by-step instructions on how to unwire, label, and rewire to the new thermostat. For my installation, I was under the impression that additional wiring might be needed, but it turned out to be a straightforward swap of the old thermostat with a new Ecobee unit, a process that took only about 15 minutes. Despite that, I was still charged the full amount. The Ecobee Premium thermostat itself costs around $250, meaning they charged nearly $500 just for labor, regardless of how simple or quick the installation is. To make matters worse, the installation only comes with a 30-day warranty, which hardly justifies such a high price. I tried to communicate and explain that this charge was unreasonably high and unfair, but they simply said, “It is what it is.” If you’re considering a thermostat installation, I strongly suggest hiring a professional through Thumbtack, where qualified experts can do the same job for under $150 with transparent pricing and good service. I expected fairness, honesty, and reasonable pricing from Glenmont, but unfortunately, that was not my experience."

"I’ve been a loyal Snell customer for years, but this recent experience was deeply disappointing. After our AC failed in August, Snell diagnosed a leaking evaporator coil. We chose to replace the system through them, and the salesperson took time to evaluate the setup in advance. However, on installation day, the crew arrived without the correct ductwork and had to make adjustments on the fly. Unfortunately, the adjustments were poorly executed: • The Aprilaire humidifier was mounted on sloped ductwork rather than a level surface, contrary to manufacturer specifications. • The hole for the humidifier was cut inaccurately. • The drain line was left kinked in multiple places. Aprilaire support later confirmed the humidifier was not installed correctly and warned this could lead to water backing up into the system — a concern I had raised with the installers before they left. Despite multiple follow-up attempts, I received no meaningful response. I was told my concerns would be escalated, but no one followed through. This was a major investment, and I now feel I need to bring in another HVAC team to correct issues that should have been resolved from the start. I’ve recommended Snell in the past, but I can’t in good faith do so now after this experience."

Nasser came to check the situation, he gave a very detailed and comprehensive overview of the situation and provided with the options I had. I decided to replace the unit, Nasser went above and beyond to find a unit delivery service but there was nothing available over the weekend so this gentleman went for unit pick up himself and finished the installation within a day from my initial call. "I contacted Bluestar Air Mechanical for a second opinion after an appointment with Air One. I have a Carrier HVAC system, and the Air One technician recommended a complete system replacement, claiming the blower was bad, the furnace control board needed replacing, and that there were other issues. Since replacing the HVAC is a big investment, I wanted to get a second opinion. It was only after comparing the service from Bluestar that I realized Air One may have been pushing for a new system sale or lacked the expertise to properly diagnose and repair the actual problems. Isaac, the technician from Bluestar, spent about an hour thoroughly diagnosing and fixing the issues. He found burnt wiring in the furnace and discovered that the wrong capacitor had been incorrectly installed in the AC. Isaac replaced the burnt wiring in the furnace and the capacitor in the AC. After these repairs, my Carrier system was back up and running—without the need for a costly replacement. Bluestar, and Isaac in particular, demonstrated professionalism, expertise, and honesty. They focused on resolving the actual issues instead of pushing for an unnecessary system replacement. I highly recommend Bluestar for their reliable service and Isaac’s thorough and knowledgeable work."
