- AA Action Waterproofing IncI needed to address a problem in one corner of my basement before an appraiser came in for a refinance that was in process. I was very appreciative of the companies that responded and fit me into their busy schedules on very short notice. Jason from A Action Waterproofing came by to give me an estimate for basement waterproofing. Two days earlier another company quoted $5,200 -- they would dig up a large bush and 2 smaller plants I had had for years to put in two protective layers (one plastic, one asphalt) for my exterior basement wall, then replace the dirt and mulch. At this point, I was just hoping for a lower quote. Jason let me know 3 hours before his scheduled arrival that he would be running about 1-1/2 hours late because he needed to take his daughter to an appointment, and asked if that would be OK. I certainly respect anyone who puts family first, so it was not a problem. As soon as Jason arrived we went to the basement. He said water was not leaking in and there was just discoloration on the floor with some on the lower wall. All that was needed was to clean the walls, apply hydraulic cement where the floor meets the wall, then paint with DryLok, and I could do that myself. I already had a can of DryLok that had never been opened. He said there was no damage to the interior and exterior walls. He did that during heavy rains there was one location where the downspout from my roof connected to the drain pipe that left my property where water could be released onto the ground, which should be addressed. I was so happy with his diagnosis that I wanted to pay for his call, but he refused. I'll take care of this before the appraiser arrives end of the week. Now just need to see what the appraiser says

- Best Buy Waterproofing, LLCI had a fantastic experience with Best Buy. They installed a French drain and sump pump in my 20 x 20 crawlspace. To start, the lead inspector, Rich, made a thorough assessment of my crawlspace, heading back in a couple more times, despite the awkward climb into the space. I appreciate that he did not use high pressure sales tactics. I felt he gave me an honest opinion about the pros and cons of the job. He even proposed waiting until we got a heavy rain to confirm how much moisture might be accumulating in the crawl space. I decided to go ahead with the job so as not have to worry any more about potential drainage issues. He gave me a very fair price and, to my surprise, ended up throwing in a new vapor barrier on the day of the job. The installation crew was prompt, professional, and friendly. They protected my hardwood floors and carpeting, communicated with me throughout the job, and left the place cleaner than when they arrived

"After careful review of all of the estimates we found that VM Drainage & Erosion Solutions’ proposal, completed by Mr. Jose Montalvo was the best at addressing and fixing the underlying problem at the source on the outside of the house, the most cost effective, and provided the most value added. Jose’s proposal was well written and by far the most detailed and comprehensive when compared to all of the other submissions. Broken down into stand-alone work elements with associated costs, Jose’s proposal was also broad in scope covering the electrical and HVAC sub-tasks associated with the project as well as landscaping and hardscaping options not covered or addressed in other proposals.
VM Drainage & Erosion Solutions started the project on schedule with site prep, equipment and materials staging. The construction crew would arrive on time, conduct themselves in a professional manner, were well organized, and respectful of the neighborhood. The site (yard) was kept clean, well-organized, and materials, refuse, and equipment would be delivered/removed in a timely fashion. Daily crew size would vary depending on the task at hand. Large crews during major site work to minimize unavoidable disruptions during large excavation work and smaller crews during finish work. Excellent balance of crew size and requisite site work. It was obvious that this team, under Jose’s leadership has worked together many years based on the well-choreographed and seamless manner with which they worked. I was impressed at how focused the team was on delivering a quality product. In addition to ensuring that all construction activities were conducted in accordance with standard industry practice, minor details would receive as much attention as the major construction activities. The entire team obviously takes pride in their craft and are focused on providing superior quality service.
It should be noted that during the excavation of the perimeter of the house breeches in the existing water proofing were clearly visible when the exterior walls were exposed and the foundation drain was found to be 100 percent blocked. These conditions were entirely consistent with Jose’s assessment made during his initial survey and a testament to his knowledge and understanding of foundation and water management issues.
Having experience in overseeing and managing numerous construction projects and working with large and small construction contractors throughout the course of my career I have found VM Drainage & Erosion Solutions to be a truly exceptional contractor. Being a family-owned business, I found them to be extremely responsive and agile while also having the wherewithal and capacity to bring the requisite resources to manage and execute a large project. I cannot express how pleased we are with the quality and breadth of their work and plan on using their services to install a new concrete/flagstone driveway. It was truly a delight to have had the opportunity to work with Jose and his team and look forward to working with him again this spring.
