Exterior Waterproofing Experts

My basement had mold and evidence of water damage in July/August, and I was referred to Exterior Waterproofing Experts. The majority of the mold was on the side of my house, but the salesperson made a strong pitch about the need to waterproof the front of my home by digging up the garden down to the foundation. My wife was largely convinced, so we went ahead with the $8000 project. Six months later, the insulation behind the waterproofed front of the house is sopping wet. When the salesperson came back to my home to take a look, his explanation was that the water probably came up through the floor. His words were along the lines of "99% of the time the water comes up through the front." At this point, I feel like I have an expensive solution to a problem I didn't really have.

Dave and his team did a wonderful job with a new trench and drain system. He tied in 5 new downspouts to the new drain and re-attached and cleaned out a few more downspouts ensuring my home will remain dry during the wet weather. The job was done on time at a fair cost. Excellent communication and overall job well done.

They fixed two leaking cracks in the basement exteriorly in May 2019. Also, they regraded the patio so that the rain water runs away from the house. I am happy with their works. I am glad my basement is dry now. Thank you.

Excellent experience. We found all the employees friendly and trustworthy. Foreman and project manager worked well together and kept us informed of the progression. It was a multi-day project and the team ensured at the end of the day the area was left clean and hazard free. Almost a year later we are still very happy with our drainage solution. Clifton Contracting does outstanding work. The drainage and water erosion solution installed by Clifton Contracting at our home gives us peace of mind, no matter how heavy the rainfall. After a neighbor on ground higher than us installed yard drains for his gutters that were directed at us, we were inundated with water every rain event. Since Clifton's drainage solution, we have no problems. Their work was efficient, professional and well worth the reasonable cost.

It was done exactly to the quoted plan which itself had been set out in considerable detail. Despite having the partial excavation to the bottom of the foundation filled by a very heavy downpour, the crew was able to complete the job within the planned timeframe. We live in an area of heavy clay soils in Alexandria, combined with a notorious strata of "marine clay which absorbs significant volumes of water, all of which made for very heavy going. Additionally, the clean-up and return of the property exactly to its appearance before work began was nothing short of remarkable. Cannot recommend this organization more highly.

Dave from Clifton Contracting/Exterior Waterproofing came out to diagnose a leak in our basement. He came out within 24 hours and quickly identified what was causing the problem (gutters). Although this is a job too small for Clifton Contracting/Exterior Waterproofing, I would not hesitate to contact them down the road if I ever had an issue they would be better suited for. Thanks!

I found my basement had some mold then hired a handyman opened the drywall. The situation is severe than my expectation, so I use Angie's list to find someone who can fix it. The whole consultation and quotation process is not easy because basement waterproofing is not very common. How to fix it (fix it from inside or outside the basement) is the most important issue need to be clarified. Different contractor give me different proposals and the price are huge different even they recommended a similar solution, and their explanations cannot convince me. I am so happy finally I called Chris. He is very professional, not only told me to fix it exterior but also explained why. The whole work took 3 days and was completed good. They completed the exterior waterproofing and also replaced several downspouts with pop-up drain at the end. They also replaced one extra downspout (not related with the waterproofing work) for free. When they finished the work, they cleaned the site and spread the grass seeds and straws too. One week after they completed all work, one downspout has some leaking issues, I called Chris, and He sent his people to fix it in the second day and fixed it immediately. Now, my basement humidity levels can reach 45%-50% (before the waterproofing, it never lower than 70%).

We noticed some moisture warping the paneling in the partially below-ground basement of our 1963 home. After speaking with several contractors who came out to assess the issue, we determined that we needed exterior waterproofing. I contacted Exterior Waterproofing Experts via their website, and received a return e-mail the next morning before 8AM. The owner, Chris, came out to meet with me that same day. He took his time looking at the damage inside, as well as the grade of the property, existing downspouts, etc. We spoke to 4 companies about this issue, and although Chris' estimate was not the lowest, we felt like the solution he offered was likely to be the most effective, without selling us a sump-pump that we probably did not need. The work was done quickly and professionally, and the crew finished in about 2 days, including not only the waterproofing, but also extending our downspouts and burying the extended pipes with pop-up drains at the end. We appreciated the fact that they included removal of a large dogwood tree in the area where the waterproofing was needed, so that we didn't need to find a separate contractor for that task. When they were finished, the crew cleaned up the site very well, and spread grass seed/straw in areas where our grass was too sparse to replace. Overall, this was an outstanding experience, and we would definitely use this company again.

Exterior Waterproofing Experts tied in my downspouts to an existing underground system to move water away from my foundation. They installed four inch gutters and downspouts as well. Prior to installation of downspouts the crew discussed placement and color options with me and explained their planned approach for the underground piping. I was very impressed that installers would take the time and show the concern to engage with the home owner at the time of installation to verify that the placement and color were satisfactory. After the gutter installation a heavy rainstorm tested the system and resulted in a few minor leaks that the contractor promptly resolved. All ground work was leveled and shrubbery returned to the flower beds. Exterior Waterproofing Experts performs excellent work and engages with the home owner like no other contractor that I have experienced. I can highly recommend them for all drainage work based on my experience.
