"I was so impressed with Wilber and his employees that in addition to painting our deck, I also hired him to pressure wash our deck and fence, replace the lattice on our pergola, as well as perform some other minor wood work. His responsiveness, quality of work and price were all excellent and would be hard to match. I have already referred him to several others in our neighborhood and look forward to hiring him again in the future!"

Customers say: Terrific value

"Jeff and Donny did an excellent job staining our replacement two-level deck with pergola, rails and steps. We chose Cabot semi-transparent stain and the results are beautiful. Jeff gave us a fair quote and arranged the project date. Communication was great. We will look forward to more home projects with Jeff in the future."

"Everything turned out amazing! Donnie and his son were so Profesional! They powerwashed my house, painted the entire interior, fixed the drywall where it needed, painted and stained my front porch and stained my back deck. He even went above and beyond by reinstalling my railing that leads upstairs that was loose and installed a missing doorstop in one of the bathrooms! Very reasonable pricing and I would definitely recommend him to anyone! Thank you so much for doing such an awesome job my house looks amazing thanks to you and your company!!!"

"Jesus first met with us to give us an estimate and walk us through our options. We were impressed with Jesus's knowledge of roofing and dedication to providing quality work and quality materials. Although he was confident in his ability to provide the service for the best price and quality, he was not pushy. He encouraged us to get other estimates for the job. We took his advice to get other estimates, and he was dead on with the price/quality difference. Another estimate we received for the job was $1,300 more and did not use the same quality of materials. Since we were unsure about what shingles would look best for our roof, Jesus took us to his supplier (ABC Roofing Supply) to look together. Jesus helped us to make the decision while not being overbearing. We gave Jesus a 50% down payment on Monday, and his crew was there and finished by Saturday of the same week. The work looks wonderful and could not have gone any smoother. I was especially impressed with the amount of cleanup that they did. No dreaded roofing nails scattered throughout the yard. Jesus is doing work for other people in our neighborhood, and I can assure you he and his crew are some of the hardest working men around. They come early and stay late to get the job done.

"EaZy Construction replaced our roof and caulked around the window frames in the front of my house in July 2020. The crew was very professional, did a great job, showed up as expected, and did a thorough job cleaning up before they left. I would highly recommend them!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

It’s often best to spray on deck sealer. Sprayers can apply sealant more quickly and evenly than rolling while still enabling you to reach tight spaces. When using a sprayer, always use a low-pressure setting at a close distance to ensure an even application. Avoid using sprayers on windy days.

Limewash and whitewash are two techniques used to give brick a light, matte finish, but they differ in composition, application, and permanence. The best choice depends on your aesthetic goals and the specific surface.

Composition

  • Limewash: A natural and environmentally friendly option made from limestone, water, and sometimes pigments. It is breathable and soaks into porous surfaces like brick.

  • Whitewash: Traditionally made from lime, water, chalk, and binders, but a similar look can be achieved with watered-down white paint. It is paint-based and sits on top of the surface.

Appearance and Finish

  • Limewash: Provides a natural, textured appearance that allows the brick's character to show through. It offers a more traditional finish.

  • Whitewash: Creates a softer, more opaque finish, often used for a rustic or shabby-chic style.

Application and Permanence

  • Limewash: Is semi-permanent and can be removed, making it a good choice if you might want to change the look in the future. It requires more skill to apply and cannot be used on previously painted brick.

  • Whitewash: Is a more permanent solution. It is more forgiving to apply and can be used on painted brick. However, because it sits on the surface, it can trap moisture.

Ultimately, if you want a breathable, natural, and reversible finish for unpainted brick, limewash is a great option. If you need a more permanent, opaque coating that can be applied over painted surfaces, whitewash is the better choice. Whitewashing may also be more economical, costing approximately $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.

Wood stain does go bad, but it will last in the can for between three and six years, provided you use proper storage techniques. Storing wood stain in open containers or in extremely low or high temperatures will cause your wood stain to become unusable much more quickly. Water- and latex-based wood stains typically last for just two to four years, while oil-based wood stains can last for three to six years.

Exterior paints contain more volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, making them dangerous when used indoors. Without the free ventilation of the great outdoors, it can take longer for the fumes to dissipate than interior paint. While you may notice the smell lessening more quickly, you should be wary of paint fumes inside for 48 to 72 hours after it dries.

You can apply stain over peeling stain, but it’s not a good idea. Your old stain will get in the way of your new stain bonding to the wood, so you’re likely going to see the same issue again shortly after application. Your best option is to sand off the old stain and clean the surface thoroughly before applying new stain.
