"A-Master assessed our plumbing issue (bad check valve on well pump and bad pressure tank). Quote for repairs included pulling the pump to replace check valve. Cost was quite a bit more than another plumber quote we had received so we went with the cheaper option (also because that plumber was under contract with our home warranty company). "The plumber arrived within the promised window, and called earlier in the morning to let me know an approximate arrival time.  I had already obtained a replacement garbage disposal, and he quickly installed that.  The other problem was a clogged kitchen sink drain.  He used the access port (unscrewed a cap) and snake and quickly cleared the clog.  The service was good and prompt.
However, the price seems to me to be quite high for the services performed. Altogether the visit took 1 hour and 5 minutes.  The breakdown on the costs were:  $58 for the "dispatch fee" ( basic charge to come to the house); $244 for the replacement of the garbage disposal (note, I provided the new disposal); and $189 for the clog clearing.  I asked about the basis of the charges and was told that these were fixed fee services.
I had used an Angie's List "Deal" coupon ($100 for $200 in service), so the total cost to me was $391.  Even that seems quite high, certainly not a "deal".  However, it is difficult for me to know whether overall these are standard and competitive rates or not.  Overall, the basic services I needed were performed well, but I will not use this company again due to what seems to me to be excessive cost."
