"I needed to replace a large retaining wall which was protecting an outside stairway to my basement. The existing wall had gotten to the point where the wall was in danger of imminent collapse. Jeff Dame of J&D Masonry promptly returned my call for an estimate, showed up on time, and scheduled the work to be done promptly. I was very pleased with his workmanship and professionalism. He kept me well informed of each step in the process and promptly returned my phone calls, if I had a question. Although we did not discuss some of the construction details in advance, the wall he built was first rate---cinder block, poured concrete, rebar reinforcement. He also made several aesthetic upgrades to the wall he replaced. He even placed stucco on another wall that he did not replace, so it would match perfectly. When he was finished, the worksite was cleaned up to the point that it looked like he had never been there. Throughout the entire process he was pleasant to talk with and unhurried. His pricing was very reasonable and well below another estimate I had gotten. I do not think anyone else could have accomplished a better end result. I highly recommend Jeff Dame of J&D Masonry for any of your masonry work. Myron Levey"

"Excellent work, which was performed during the hottest days of summer that we have experienced for 2019. Heat Index was approximately 106 for both days. The waterproofing was completed quickly and exceeded our expectations. The crew which consisted of Matt Bowen, Triaquan C., Terrell F., and Ethan T. , were professional and courteous. Great Job!"

"I was very happy with the services provided by this company.  Discovered a slow water leak in the basement in the morning, and Roto-Rooter arrived that afternoon to fix it.  The technician, Warren, was friendly, courteous and efficient, and took the time to carefully explain the problem and recommended fix to me.  The administrative staff followed up with a phone call to make sure everything was handled to our satisfaction.  I will definitely call Roto-Rooter in the future and will recommend to my neighbors.

"Good people to work with, professional in every way. Normally when we received 2" of rain water would start entering the basement. When we receive 3" the basement floor would be covered. Two days after installing their system our area received 8.5" of rain and our basement remained dry, not a drop got in the house. These guys know what they are doing."

"One of the hardest workers. He is very honest, and goes above and beyond. Highly recommend. He saved us thousands from what another company wanted to charge for unnecessary work. Going on 4years since he finished his waterproofing and mold removal,we have had record rains and no leaks and no mold. Only dry basement on the block."

"He was very helpful. The issue with the vent was not that it was dirty but, the cent is too long. He came over and went under the house and in the basement to figure out the problem. He let us know we should cut an access panel in the deck to make sure the vent is clean and set up properly."

"Hunter and his crew did some extensive structural remediation on a 50 year old house I recently purchased. The corners had stair-case like cracking and a basement wall underground had horizontal cracks. They drove piers under all 4 corners of the foundation and applied carbon fiber support straps to an underground wall. They also did some water drainage remediation to get water from the gutter downspouts further away from the house. It took several days but I was well informed of their work days/times and they were very professional, including the guys with shovels in their hands. They did a great cleanup and I feel very confident with what I saw, that my house is now stabilized for another 50 years."

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

Below-ground shelters are the best in terms of durability, but there is a risk of flooding and obstruction. Modern technology and rigorous construction requirements make above-ground shelters a better option for accessibility, safety, and, usually, your budget. They may not have the same aesthetic appeal, but many of their features make above-ground shelters a better option.

Water damage always poses a primary risk of mold and mildew, but growth is not guaranteed. Whether mold develops depends on several factors, including the severity of the water damage and how quickly the area is addressed. To prevent mold, you must act fast—ideally within the first 24 hours. The process involves cleaning up all standing water and thoroughly drying the affected area. If the damage is extensive, the cleanup was delayed, or you suspect mold might be present, it is safest to assume it has grown and contact a professional mold inspector or removal expert to assess the situation.

If foundation problems are not fixed, they will likely worsen over time, leading to more complex and expensive repairs. Neglecting a damaged foundation can cause a range of issues, including:

  • Structural Damage: Minor problems like small cracks can escalate into major structural issues. This can damage the house above the foundation and, in severe cases, lead to foundation walls caving in or a total collapse.

  • Water Damage and Pests: Moisture and water intrusion can cause flooding, mold growth, and pest infestations.

  • Health and Safety Risks: Mold can lead to poor indoor air quality and other health risks, while structural instability poses a significant safety hazard.

  • Reduced Home Efficiency: A compromised foundation can negatively impact your home's energy efficiency.

To avoid these escalating problems and costs, it's best to hire a foundation repair company to address any issues as soon as you become aware of them. The earlier problems are discovered and fixed, the lower the repair cost will likely be.

Yes, it’s worth it to repair a crawl space foundation, even if the issue seems relatively minor. Foundation problems often get worse and more expensive to fix if you leave them untreated. Additionally, your entire home, from the framing and flooring to the roof system, relies on the foundation for even and level support. Issues with your foundation will almost always manifest as problems in and above your living space, so it’s important to find a solution.

Installing storm windows can protect your home’s interior from heavy storms. Most storm windows are made with enamel-coated aluminum with screens and sliding glass panels. They also make your house more energy-efficient. The average storm window cost is $12,000, ranging between $4,250 and $19,850, depending on mounting, window types, glass types, and frame materials.
