Matson Construction LLC is a carpentry and remodeling contractor. We specialize in all forms of home remodeling and repairs, and in this capacity we work as a General Contractor, and perform some work in house and other work through our team of sub contractors. We also specialize in High end Production trim carpentry, and are often sub contracted to work in new construction homes and commercial buildings.

"John did a great job of staying in constant communication with me and was very responsive to my questions. He arrived as promised, was very professional, and did a great job with our new custom shelving. He added interesting details to the trim to set it apart. Definitely will work with him again."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Yes, professional installations include reinforced corner posts to ensure durability.

Yes, using certified lumber and engineered wood products for reduced environmental impact.

You can use a nail to find ceiling joists, but it’s not as reliable as a stud finder, and you’ll end up with lots of small holes in your ceiling. If the nail hits a joist, you'll feel increased resistance. Mark the spot with a pencil. Repeat this process regularly along the ceiling, 16 or 24 inches apart, until you've mapped out the joist locations.

Yes, a bowed wall can be straightened in several ways. If the bowing is minimal, it can often be straightened by installing anchors or straps. For more severe basement wall bowing, your contractor might need to excavate the soil outside the foundation and pull the wall back into its original position to straighten it.

If you’re considering buying a home with known termite damage, you can negotiate with the seller to lower the costs of the house. They might be able to make the damage repairs before handing over the keys or lower the asking price before the deal is agreed upon. It’s vital though that even if you’re winning the negotiation, a home inspection contingency might be a good idea in case of future issues.
