My wife and I recently relocated to Loudoun County from northeast Ohio and now offer the same level of customer service to our clients in the northern Virginia region. Building on a foundation of more than three decades of experience in the building, remodeling & land surveying professions, it just made sense to put that experience to work by adding home inspections to the services we offer. Our mission is to continue to establish White Stone Home Inspections as the first choice of buyers, sellers and home owners for accurate, prompt and concise home inspections and reports.

"We were in need of a boundary survey for a new fence install. They were available and efficient. No fluff. Got what we needed in a timely manner. Would recommend. "

We are a husband and wife engineering and land surveying comapny. Both principles are very hands on and perform the majority of the work required to fulfill the obligations to the client. Please be aware we do ask for deposits. The amount varies but usually amounts to 40 to 50 percent of the total job. Being that most jobs are less than $300.00 the deposit covers direct expenses associated with the completion of a portion of the project. Direct expenses are fuel, materials, labor cost, and equipment maintenance. By requiring deposits we can keep our fees low. Although we are located in Fredericksburg, the majority of our work is in Northern Virginia. We do want you to know that our fees are not increased because of distance so you need not fear that you are paying any fuel surcharges. Many contractors will tell you that if a bid for work seems too low that you may want to avoid that business. That is not always true and here is why. We sell a service, not a product. Our service is worth what we agree upon as a fair fee. Quality of service is not sacrificed because a fee is less than another provider. The service is identical to the provider that wants twice as much as we ask for. Land Surveyors are required by State Regulatory mandates to provide specific actions to accomplish specific tasks regardless of fees charged. Additional Service Areas: Fairfax, Fauquier, Frederick, Loudoun, Prince Williams, & Portions of Prince George Counties.

"Responded to request for quote during the weekend, scheduled a Monday afternoon appointment. Didn't require me to be home. A team of two, including Mr. Thurber, showed up on-time and performed the work within an hour, locating all property boundaries and taking all needed measurements. By Wednesday I had the updated PLAT for my county permitting."

32 employees. 7 field crews, 2 Licensed Land Surveyors, 2 Licensed Engineers. 14 graduated apprentice surveyors. Charges a flat rate. No travel charge apply. Quality without question, Service is number one!

"We had contacted several surveyors, and found Dominion to be the most reliable and reasonably priced. It did take a while for the project to be done, but the crew was extremely friendly, and even waited for us to return to the house (10-15 minutes) after they had finished to give us a walk through of the property lines. We received the plat both via email and hard copy. We appreciated the email so we could move more quickly with our fence project. We would definitely recommend them."

Land Surveying questions, answered by experts

In Arlington, combining land surveying with upgrades like fencing, landscaping, or home additions can streamline your project. Many improvements require accurate surveys for permits, and bundling services often reduces repeat site visits. This approach helps identify setback or easement conflicts early, ensures compliance with local property regulations, and can speed up the approval process for multiple home upgrades.

Helpful?

In Arlington, be wary if a land surveyor provides unclear descriptions of property boundaries, skips a site walk, or avoids discussing local permit requirements. If the quote lacks a detailed, written agreement or omits deliverables like marked corners or a final map, that’s a concern. Surveyors unfamiliar with Arlington’s zoning or who ignore utility and easement issues may not be equipped for your project.

Helpful?

Before starting a land survey in Arlington, gather your deed, previous surveys, and any HOA or easement documents. Clear brush along property lines, mark known corners, and ensure surveyors can easily access all areas. Notify neighbors if boundaries are shared, check for historic district restrictions, and review local GIS maps to anticipate zoning or utility issues that could impact your property boundaries.

Helpful?

In Arlington, most residential land surveys, such as boundary or property line surveys, are typically completed within 1–3 weeks. Denser neighborhoods, coordination with local utilities, or projects near the Potomac River can extend timelines. ALTA surveys and detailed topographic surveys may take longer, especially during peak construction season, so it’s wise to plan ahead and communicate your project’s urgency.

Helpful?

Arlington homeowners should consider strict setback rules, tree preservation requirements, and the prevalence of shared driveways or narrow lots. Proximity to flood zones near the Potomac River may affect survey details. Plan around peak construction periods and local office schedules, as these can influence survey timing. Accurate surveys not only clarify property boundaries but also support future improvements and property value.
