We had contacted several surveyors, and found Dominion to be the most reliable and reasonably priced. It did take a while for the project to be done, but the crew was extremely friendly, and even waited for us to return to the house (10-15 minutes) after they had finished to give us a walk through of the property lines. We received the plat both via email and hard copy. We appreciated the email so we could move more quickly with our fence project. We would definitely recommend them.

As a contractor I have had numerous customers request additions and alterations which require a plat. Some have them some do not. For those that do not, I recommend or directly contract with Dominion Surveyors. They have been a great help every time I have used them. Their plats are accurate and professionally produced. I have only once had a miscommunication with them and George, the owner, was able to get it resolved right away. I will continue to use and recommend them.

They came out once for the survey and then came out to place the stakes. From the initial contact with the office to the submission of the completed survey they were responsive and professional in every respect.

They are honest!  Mr. O'Quinn spoke with me on the phone for at least 15 minutes and walked me through (in great detail) my issues and gave me several suggestions on how I could proceed.  It should be noted that for my particular issues...none of his recommendations involved me spending money or selling me a service that I didn?t need.  He assessed my situation and gave me the best advice for my situation.  This is the type of business that I expect to find on Angie's List!  You have earned a loyal customer.

As ignorant of surveying as I am, Mr. O'Quinn could easily have said that answering my ? would take an hour or 2 at $75 an hour...I would have believed him & paid it, but he helped me just because he could. I would certainly do business with Dominion in the future. I had simply called him from the Angies Listing, thinking that I would be entering into a complex field that would cost me some substantial amount.

These guys are just awesome. They took me from being overwhelmed with the land/surveying/plat details needed by Fairfax county and they went above and beyond in helping me with rapid replies and delivering me my plat in both PDF AND printed formats - without trying to charge me a bunch of extra service fees! They were extremely responsive, polite and they saved me hours and hours of time! 
They are on my permanent list of 'book marked' vendors - and without hesitation I would recommend them to anyone. I wish all vendors acted this way.

Called the company, they came out and conducted the survey.  The survey was provided to me within a week.

The company was professional and responsive. They were prompt in completing their work to maintain the construction schedule. They were responsive to comments and stood behind their work. Their proposal was inclusive of all surveying services we may have needed, but as homeowners, we could pick the actual services that we wanted done. This was helpful for us to get a sense of what the full scope of services would cost but allowed us to modify if to meet our actual needs and budget.

From first contact Dominion Surveyors were professional in every respect. Both the telephone and in-person exchanges were first rate. All my questions and concerns before and during the work were promptly addressed. The resulting product (needed for county permit purposes) is clear and complete.

In Oct 2013, I started looking for a surveyor to stake my yard for a new fence. Dominion was $50 higher than the company I wanted to use but that company never responded to my emails. Dominion responded quickly so I went with them. They came quickly and staked my yard as I requested in mid-October. By the end of October, I still hadn't received an invoice from them, so I went ahead and sent a check. Over the next several months, my check was never cashed. Then in mid-January, I got a and quot;secondand quot; invoice from them. I immediately sent them an email saying I never got the first invoice and that I'd mailed them a check 2 and half months earlier that they should cash. Finally, A WEEK LATER, Pam the bookkeeper responded to my email claiming she never received my check. I told her I would send another one less the $30 stop payment fee on the first check. She took ANOTHER WEEK to respond to that email and said that she hadn't received my second check for $400. She also said that if she found my first check she would destroy it. I told her it was too late. I had given her a week to respond to my email and when she didn't I went ahead and mailed a second for $370. It's completely ridiculous to take a week to answer customer emails. I think they're completely disorganized and lost my first check and Pam only thinks she sent an invoice in October.

Fast forward three years later when we plan on doing some work to our house. County tells us our plat is incomplete as it does not have house on it. Tried contacting this company 3 times in span of one week to get original work updated. No reply. Highly unprofessional. If you can't handle basic administrative tasks like calling people back in a prompt manner, you should not be in business. Also, company never explained why the original work was incomplete.
Found another surveyor at a reasonable rate who agreed to do job in quick time.

Update 3/2014
It is funny how some people stretch the truth and others flat out lie. As we stated in the original review, the surveyor never even responded to 3 calls. Therefore, we never requested any discount, or as he calls it, 'gratis', as we never spoke to anyone there. If people make mistakes, I can deal with that. If people are liars, I can't. Caveat emptor (buyer beware).

Communication pretty good, surveyed quickly and got the plat to me via email and several hard copies in the mail.
