"We're very happy with Cransten Service All Start company and especially with Pace Jorgensen who did an outstanding job in replacing our single sidelight front door with mahogany solid wood door with speakeasy window and double sidelights. "Britt replaced both my front and back doors. Plus, he added a storm door to the front. Britt was wonderful! He explained everything perfectly so that I was able to understand the entire process. He stayed in contact with me with updates about when the doors were ordered, arrived, and worked with my schedule for the install. The doors are perfect! He knows his stuff. I just hired him to install windows! I have no doubt the windows will be amazing! He pays close attention to the details."

"The installers were great. The salesperson made promises that he did not keep and he missed a window. When the person came to measure he also didn’t catch that I was having all my windows done except one. The windows look great. The response when I notified the co that one window was missed was very fast but added to my cost."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Whether you should repair or replace a screen door depends on the type and extent of the damage. It is easy and economical to repair a small tear in the mesh using a widely available DIY patch kit. However, if there are large tears, multiple damaged spots, or if the screen is made of a specialized material, replacing the entire screen mesh might be a better long-term investment for a tidier appearance. You should also consider the condition of the frame; if the frame itself is damaged, it's likely time to replace the entire door. Other factors to weigh include whether you want a new style or need a more durable door.

While sometimes used interchangeably, screen doors and storm doors have key differences. Screen doors are simple structures, typically composed of just a frame and a screen, designed to keep out bugs while allowing air circulation. In contrast, storm doors are heavier and more complex, built to protect your home's main entry door from weather and intruders. They usually feature an aluminum frame with interchangeable tempered glass and screen panels, allowing you to switch between ventilation and insulation. A storm door offers more protection and versatility but generally costs more than a basic screen door.

Most windows last for 15 to 30 years, depending on the frame material and the glass quality, but most will require repairs during that time. Windows gradually lose efficiency, so it’s usually best to have a window repair technician inspect and service your windows every five to 10 years. You should also repair your windows if you experience the following:

  • Leaks

  • Drafts

  • Difficulty opening or closing

  • Sudden increases in heating and cooling bills

  • Outdoor noise becomes more audible

  • Signs of physical damage

Yes, if you have ventilated skylights, you can install insect screens on them. Insect screens for skylights cost $10 to $50 each, depending on their size and quality. Most pros highly recommend insect screens for ventilated skylights because they keep pests outside of your home while allowing fresh air inside.

You can add any type of window to a brick house, so long as the window has proper support. Windows with wider openings and windows in brick walls will need a lintel to support the extra weight above the window frame. A lintel is a support beam that distributes the weight from above evenly around the window.
