Customers say: True professional

"We LOVE this company!  They are extremely responsive to our questions and needs. Brandon is very willing to work with us on the best and most economical solutions.  His crew works incredibly hard and does very good work.  All the work listed above was done in one day during very hot weather here in Texas.  What impresses me so much is the condition of the area(s) when they're done.  EVERYTHING is picked up, cleared and cleaned.  They even walked through the grass to make sure there weren't any random rocks left from the removal/install of the landscape rocks. It's like they weren't even here except that the landscape looks beautiful!!!
This is the second time we've used them and I'm sure we will be using them again in the future. They are our go-to landscaping company. Use them with confidence."

"The brick layers were very knowledgeable and experienced. They corrected an alignment problem I wasn't even aware of. They finished the project in three hours and I was very pleased with the results. They suffered through the rain to keep working. I would highly recommend R&M Masonry for any stone or brick project."

"Mr. Bobby Truett did a superb job of clearing brush, removing tree stumps, and trimming tree limbs that posed a serious danger of damaging fencing on my property. He was extremely attentive to my needs as a custimer, communicated with me very well, and paid great attention to detail. He even worked on weekends to ensure my schedule was met! I would highly recommend Bobby for any job that requires a skid steer!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

While there are over 400,000 different flowering plants worldwide, there are five main types of flowers. These flower types are based on their lifecycles, giving each type a unique personality. These types are:

  • Annuals, which complete their entire life cycle within a single growing season.

  • Perennials, which the tops die off in the winter but regrow in spring.

  • Biennials, which complete their entire life cycle within two years.

  • Hybrids, which exhibit either annual or perennial behaviors depending on location

  • Flowering shrubs, which are small to medium-sized perennial woody plants, such as shrubs or evergreens.

Yes, you can landscape in the rain, but you should take some precautions to keep yourself and your tools safe. Avoid using electric landscaping tools during rainfall, and don’t mow, thatch, aerate, or rake in the rain, as your tools can more easily tear out roots in the loose soil. Be careful when working on wet grass, and take your time to avoid slipping. Avoid putting in new plants before a particularly bad storm, as heavy rain and strong winds can damage or uproot plants that aren’t yet established.

Yes, if you are using rocks to form a pathway or driveway, it’s a good idea to first install landscape fabric before layering in your rocks. Landscape fabric is your first line of defense against unwanted grass and weeds on your rocky surface.

The truth is, there really is no such thing as a 100% deer-proof plant. Deer will decimate even the prickliest flora if they’re hungry enough. However, there are plenty of beautiful plants that deer don’t necessarily enjoy. These include thistles, wisteria vines, sword ferns, and beautyberries.

Deer are herbivores, and they love vegetable gardens as much as Peter Rabbit. If you don’t want to fence in your entire property, consider creating an attractive raised-bed veggie garden with mesh fencing around it to keep out deer and other critters.

You should avoid planting grass, shrubs, plants, and trees in freezing temperatures, as the ground can get frozen and become too hard for proper root growth. It’s best to plant in the fall to allow your plants to establish root systems before the first frost. Landscaping when the average temperature in your area is between 50 and 60 degrees will usually deliver the best results.
