"Initially I thought I had hired another professional but they never called me back a second time. Damien called and not only did he go by my new house, he walked the property while on the phone with me so we could discuss exactly what I needed from him and he gave me an incredibly reasonable estimate on the spot. Since then he has contacted me to give me an estimate of cost for the landscaping plants that I would like to add. All this and I haven't paid him a dime yet or even closed on the house yet! I had to give 5 stars for the quality of the work before any has even happened yet, but with THIS impressive start, I have no doubt that he will earn every star. I am very impressed."

"We were needing sod installed in part of the backyard and part of the front. We also needed a drainage issue in the front yard caused be gutter extensions fixed. Robert came we walked the yard and he made sod recommendations for our backyard. He submitted his bid and we accepted his quote. The work done from tilling and leveling the areas were on point as was the solution for the drainage being extended. His crew were very professional and also took the time to do the job correct. I would use him for all future needs from sod to landscaping."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

The truth is, there really is no such thing as a 100% deer-proof plant. Deer will decimate even the prickliest flora if they’re hungry enough. However, there are plenty of beautiful plants that deer don’t necessarily enjoy. These include thistles, wisteria vines, sword ferns, and beautyberries.

Deer are herbivores, and they love vegetable gardens as much as Peter Rabbit. If you don’t want to fence in your entire property, consider creating an attractive raised-bed veggie garden with mesh fencing around it to keep out deer and other critters.

Yes, adding a pergola can add value to your home and provides an excellent selling point for potential buyers who enjoy outdoor living. Pergolas may have a 50% to 80% return on investment. To add more value, choose a structure made from durable, long-lasting materials and have it professionally installed. Extra features like a motorized roof, smart louvers, and heaters or misters may also give you a better return on investment.

Costs for lakefront landscaping are influenced by project size, choice of plants and materials, labor, and any additional features or structures desired. Projects can range from a few thousand dollars to extensive transformations costing much more.

While there are over 400,000 different flowering plants worldwide, there are five main types of flowers. These flower types are based on their lifecycles, giving each type a unique personality. These types are:

  • Annuals, which complete their entire life cycle within a single growing season.

  • Perennials, which the tops die off in the winter but regrow in spring.

  • Biennials, which complete their entire life cycle within two years.

  • Hybrids, which exhibit either annual or perennial behaviors depending on location

  • Flowering shrubs, which are small to medium-sized perennial woody plants, such as shrubs or evergreens.

Yes, it is possible to add too little mulch. Anything less than 1 inch will likely result in too little coverage around your plants, allowing weeds to grow through and minimizing the positive effects that a deeper bed of mulch would have, like maintaining proper soil moisture and insulating the ground.
