"I was really happy with Sol Solutions. They were prompt in coming to assess the cost of installing gutters, and when they realized I needed a little less than I had needed under the terms of the online deal (for a fixed number of feet), they gave me a competitive price for extending the gutters even past the linear amount allowed in the deal, so that we didn't waste any of the deal. Installation was prompt (a few days after the estimate). Since the gutters were installed, they have functioned quite well (I'm writing this about a year later). What's not to like?"

"Piper was excellent to work with!  Magnum Roofing listens to you!  I asked for a particular color for my roof, no one else in the neighborhood used that color. After we had our roof done, all the neighbor had theirs done almost the same color!  I am very happy with the service, the price, and last but not least Piper!  Thank you again!

"I needed some work done with framing some new spaces in a remodel.  I liked the crew they sent and we got the work done at a very reasonable price.  However, I know that if I just called in randomly I could have had a totally different crew/experience.  The work was done very quickly but to the point were some of the details were forgotten.  Overall my experience was worth while and a good one."

Egress Windows questions, answered by experts

Depending on size, material, and labor, two windows can cost between $600 and $1,600.

Yes, you absolutely need a permit to add a window to your house. Your contractor can likely obtain this permit on your behalf. Ask about this when getting quotes from multiple window contractors.

If improperly installed, an egress window can compromise your foundation’s structural integrity, so it’s important to work with a pro to ensure your foundation remains in good shape. Any money you may save on a DIY egress window installation may cost you in the long run if your foundation is damaged in the process.

Yes, egress windows can significantly add value to a home. By making basement and attic areas safer and more livable, they allow you to market these spaces as finished living areas, which increases your property's value. Many homeowners can recover the full installation cost, with some sources citing a return on investment of around 70%. The exact value added depends on your specific home, location, and adherence to local building codes. Beyond financial value, egress windows enhance functionality by adding natural light and comfort. They are also a crucial safety feature, often mandated by building codes to serve as an emergency exit.

Egress windows require regular maintenance to ensure they function correctly. This includes cleaning the glass, inspecting the frame and well for debris, and making sure the cover or well drains properly. It is also important to check that the window sills and wells are watertight and to inspect and repair any damage to the window frame or seals to prevent leaks and maintain functionality.
