"Can't say enough good things about Pro1 Windows & Doors! The process was excellent from start to finish. Dan came out to provide an estimate, was straight forward (not too sales-y) and confident in his product. They were very competitively priced and after doing some research on their window product and comparing Pro1 against other quotes I received (4 total), it was a no-brainer. They under promised and over delivered in every way. I was told it would take 4-6 weeks to get the windows, they were here in 2.5. I was told scheduling installation could take some time, I was on the schedule the following week. I was told installation would take the better half of a day, they were done in 3 hours. Installation day was seamless. They over communicated about their arrival time and were respectful towards my house and furniture, making sure that things were carefully moved away as needed and covered. When choosing a type of egress window, consider how you’d like to open it. For example, double-hung egress windows open from top to bottom and let plenty of fresh air in, whereas sliding windows slide open for easy access.  

There are more than five window types, but five of the most popular types include casement windows, sliding windows, double-hung windows, picture windows, and awning windows. Each style offers something different. Some are great for ventilation, others for letting in light, and some can do a bit of both. Depending on size, material, and labor, two windows can cost between $600 and $1,600.

You install a window well 8 to 12 inches deeper than the base of the window sill. After filling the well with drainage rock, the well should sit 3 inches below the bottom of the window. The top of the window well should also be at least 3 inches higher than the surface-grade ground. The window well should be about 6 inches wider than the window opening.

Egress windows are typically required for basements with habitable space or living quarters. Not all basements or lower levels require egress windows. However, egress windows are required in homes with living spaces such as bedrooms and living rooms in a basement. The International Residential Code and International Building Code require sleeping rooms to have a specific size egress window.
