"Glynn and Jerry are the perfect duo. They did such a great job on our home that we asked them to replaced my parent’s roof too. Both are extremely professional and knowledgable, plus they worked with both of our insurance companies to cover the storm damage. Additionally the crew worked hard to get each roof done in a day. They cleaned up the job site as they worked, being careful not to damage anything below. We recommend them to everyone!!"

"I contacted Ruddys Roofing for an inspection of my roof and to repair a damaged shingle. When Jake Hargis arrived he was on time and very helpful. I explained to him that I had a damaged shingle that needed to it fixed or repaired. I also wanted the roof inspected for other damage. Jake stated that he would get his latter a get started. When he came back to the door he the shingle could be repaired. He also stated that there was no additional damage to the roof. I asked Jake when he could do the repair and he responded that he had every thing in his truck and he could do it now. Jake did great job on the repairing the. Shingle. He was polite and professional. He didnâ t try to sell me unnecessary repairs. Jake did an awesome job and I will use Ruddys Roofing in the future. Adolph Metcalfe"

"Insurance did not want to approve initial estimate and wanted an official appraisal. Salvador roofing contacted an appraiser an submitted report with photos and proof of damages. Guillermo (@Salvador roofing) provide to state Farm all necessary info. Insurance approved the repair plus some water damage to interior ceiling and walls. Very professional work, excellent work ethic and used the best materials available. My wife and I are very happy with results. Will recomend to my friends or anyone asking me for information."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Generally, hailstones that are one inch in diameter or larger can cause significant damage to a roof. However, smaller hail can also cause damage, particularly when accompanied by strong winds, if it strikes an aging or poorly maintained roof, or if hailstorms are frequent in your area. Hail that is ¼ inch (pea-sized) or smaller poses a minimal risk of immediate, permanent damage, but cumulative impacts can cause deterioration over time. The extent of the damage also depends on the roofing material; hail-resistant tiles like slate or certain types of asphalt shingles can withstand impacts better than other materials. If you are concerned about potential damage after a storm, it is always a good idea to have a professional roofer conduct an inspection.

Skipping the installation of a drip edge or gutter apron can lead to significant water damage. Without this component, water is more likely to seep under roofing materials or leak behind gutters, damaging the fascia, soffits, siding, and even the interior of your home, such as the attic. Over time, this moisture can cause rot, mold, and deterioration. In colder climates, a missing drip edge also increases the risk of ice dams, which can lead to expensive repairs. A drip edge is an essential part of a roof's drainage system, and some local building codes may even require its installation to protect the home from water damage.

The installation may have been done correctly. However, improperly installed gutter guards can easily damage your shingles. Also, cheap gutter guards rarely come with installation fixtures. In the worst cases, they simply ask you to nail the guards in, which would sabotage your roof’s water resistance and thus void the warranty. To be sure, always check with your home warranty provider before making any modifications.

The ridge is the horizontal line where two sloping roof sections meet at the top, forming the highest point of the roof. A hip, on the other hand, is the external angle formed where two roof sections meet and slope downward toward the walls, typically at a lower angle than the ridge. The ridge runs horizontally along the peak and the hip runs diagonally from the peak to the roof's edges.

If your roof has a vapor barrier, you will need approximately one square foot of roof vent for every 300 square feet of ceiling space. If there is no vapor barrier, the roof should have one square foot of roof vent for every 150 square feet of ceiling space. If you are not comfortable making this determination, a local roofing professional can help.
