It was promised to be done in 6 weeks and it was completed in 9 months. When completed the decking began to develop cracks within two weeks of completion. Cody Pools subcontractors came out and cosmetically covered up the cracks with more cool deck paint. To date we have 62 cracks on the deck. The gunite cracked twice and required the pool to be drained and re-plastered. It leaked and is still leaking. This was independently verified by a pool leak detection company. The over flow float value has stuck on multiple occasions and we can no longer leave it pressurized otherwise water just keeps running. When they did the construction every wall was crooked. The stairs were 2.5 inches on one side and 5 inches on the other. It was a joke. I went to arbitration as directed in the contract and the mediator had found our claims were justified but Cody's President objected and decided to submit there own findings. The President found a buddy of his who had a Professional Engineering license (This guy was a land surveyor with an arrest record for lying to the authorities and providing false names. He was no concrete expert but wrote a letter acting as if he knew something). The concrete deck on my pool is only 3.25 inches thick and does not meet industry standards nor does it meet the American Society of Pool standards which is 5". Cody Pools did not install any footings to keep the pool from shifting. The rim of the pool has no expansion joints thus each time the pools shifts the rim cracks. There are only a few expansion joints and they do not meet the minimum standards. I have a recording of the President of Cody Pools stating that his decking standards are 3" inches deep and that concrete cracks. Concrete may crack but that is what expansion joints are for. The documentation that was provided by Cody Pools President and was included as part of his respoinse to the objection states decking must be 5" thick. The mediator who was working for the BBB did a 180 degree turn around when the mediator learned the President of Cody Pools is a Director of the BBB and has been so for a long time. We were never told that the President of Cody Pools was a Director of the BBB otherwise we would have mediated elsewhere. We did not learn of this until after the 180 degree turn around on the decision by the mediator. What a perfect storm. A person who can have influence on his competition by finding faults with other pool builders and then capitalize because he can keep his ratng at the BBB artificially elevated. I would recommend to anyone building a pool make sure the company has it's own crews, (Cody Pools does not. They said they did. They had subcontracted everything out) make sure the pool builder is an authorized service provider for the equipment they are installing. (Cody Pool is not an authorize service provider for Pentaire the brand of pumps they install. I went to the Pentaire website to find someone to do a warranty repair and Cody Pools is not an authorized Pentaire service provider) and I would recommend the consumer try to remove the binding arbitration clause in their contracts. This really limits the consumers ability to make the Pool Builder build with quality. I may not of received anything but additional warranty time which was part of the solution by the mediator but I have successfully shown the quality of work done by Cody Pools to others which has caused them to to go to another pool builder even at a slightly higher price and I have been thanked by all of them. I have pictures, back ground investigations and recordings and can arrange a tour to prospective pool customers who are thinking of using Cody Pools as their builder. Think again or you will regret it shortly after your dream of owning a pool becomes a nightmare. Cody Pools knows that most people will only have to install a pool once it is not like you can throw it away and add another one so pleasing you is not on their list. Mike - the sales guy was friendly and professional. We he came out to the house - he brought the AO Smith rep to talk about their system and help size the water heater. This wasn't a normal practice - but he was in the area and Mike brought him along for the initial visit. It did take a bit longer than I had anticipated to receive the quote ($4500) and it included a water sensor that was unexpected. The water sensor is a device that sits in the pan and if the system leaks or is purged, it has automatic shut off valve that prevent water from leaking in the basement. A great feature and recommended (if you don't mind paying the extra money for it). Once we agreed to the proposal, they dropped off the water heater in two weeks. We did have some challenges of getting the install started due to schedules and vacations - but we finally agreed to a day to have them do the install. The install took the entire day as they moved the water heater position in the basement to a better location and they needed to vent it outside. I paid for everything at the end of the install. The next day - I called because I wasn't getting enough hot water - it was sorta hot - but not HOT. They said there was a valve on the top of the water heater that I could adjust - which I did - but it was broken. I called back again, they were aware that the valve was broken and were planning on coming the following day to replace. (why they didn't tell me that before they left the install is beyond me). They replaced the valve - and the water was HOT - and everything worked great for about 2-3 weeks. Then we lost hot water. I went down to make sure everything was OK - and the water sensor had gone off because water had purged into the pan. I reset, soaked up the water, and it happened two more times. I called their service department on the weekend - and didn't get a call back. I called the sales guy 4 hours later and he returned my call in 20 minutes. Long story short - there was nothing wrong with the water heater- it was doing exactly what it was suppose to do. However, for some reason, the water pressure into the house had increased to 150 - over 2x times what it should be. When you have high water pressure and you are heat it the pressure will increase further and the water heater is designed to vent that extra pressure so it doesn't explode. Everything worked as it was suppose to. This is why didn't score them the highest on quality as I feel this is a test they should have performed before doing anything. It was a 20 second test and was very easy to complete. I also deducted for them not telling me about the broken valve before they left. It was great that they already had the part ordered and had scheduled a time to install - but they should have told me this so I wouldn't have called it in. Overall - the techs were great and was very knowledgable. They walked me thru everything which provided me a great understanding of what was going on in the system. Unfortunately, it was necessary to spend another $850 to fix the pressure (added an expansion tank and an adjustable valve which they only charged me their cost ($450 total) as they felt they should have caught this during the installation. I was pleased with their professionalism and the fact they cleaned up their mess (even wore booties when they were in the house). I would use them again - and their pricing is much more reasonable than Avon Plumbing.

"On February 2nd we had a freeze all across Connecticut, our pipes bursted in 6 different places. I called every restoration company in 3 different states, and nobody had any openings for at least a month. Everyone was so overbooked because of the freeze. I remembered a company I've heard about, in San Antonio TX called canco restoration. I called and spoke to a man named Kenneth Barrett and asked if he would be able to help me. He told me he was more than willing to help us out! I called my insurance company USAA and got the go ahead for Canco to come out. The next day Kenneth, and his estimator flew out here to Connecticut. We got the estimation done, and that Saturday his whole team drove from san antonio TX to Connecticut. They were here for approximately 5 days, they worked fast and efficiently! The team did an incredible job with the water restoration and drying everything out. I couldn't of asked for a better company! CANCO is the best water restoration out here, hands down! The build back was incredible as well! My husband and I were able to be kept in the loop every step of the process! My house is 100% better than how it was before! The total cost of my restoration was 90,000. I feel truly blessed that Kenneth Barrett and his team could be of service all the way in Connecticut. If anyone needs water restoration work done, I absolutely believe CANCO is the best and only option!"

"BPG Inspections Failed to Honor Their Guarantee or Take Accountability Summary: In my experience, BPG Inspections failed to uphold their guarantee, and I encountered poor follow-up and vague, shifting justifications for denying my claim. Details: I hired BPG Inspections in Pensacola, FL, to inspect a home I purchased in April. The inspection occurred in March, and I moved in during May. Within a few days of moving in – well within the 90-day warranty period – I discovered two issues that the inspection report had explicitly marked as functional: 1. The garbage disposal unit did not work (it made a soft noise but did not function). 2. The HVAC system failed to deliver air to the kitchen and adjacent bedroom, though the inspection report had indicated the air handling was operational and in good condition. I promptly emailed BPG about these problems, and while the inspector initially responded, I was then passed to their claims department. After repeated follow-ups, I finally received a call on June 23rd – nearly a month after reporting the issue – only to be told that neither issue was covered under their warranty. I raised the following concerns: 1. For the HVAC, the inspector had confirmed it was functional in an email, contradicting the claims department's later justification that it could not be tested. If no air reaches two rooms, it should have been evident during either heating or cooling tests – this was missed. 2. For the garbage disposal, I was told it was a "kitchen appliance" and therefore not covered, despite it being a fixture included in inspections. When I asked where the warranty excluded it, I received inconsistent explanations. At no point did the company offer to re-inspect or further investigate these issues. I expected more accountability from a professional inspection service – especially one offering a guarantee."

FAQs for radon detection and reduction projects in Stockdale, TX
If radon is present in your home, you can expect to pay around $1,000 for a radon mitigation system or between $780 and $1,250 in most cases. The exact price will depend on the severity of the radon leak, home size, and the protocol the radon specialist develops to remove radon from your home and keep it out. Your foundation type will also affect your radon mitigation system cost, as unfinished basements will cost about $4,600 to seal and ventilate, while crawl spaces without a foundation slab may need extra encapsulation, costing $1,500 to $15,000.
You can buy DIY radon test kits from a home improvement store and conduct radon testing, but these tests are often inaccurate. No matter the result, you should supplement DIY testing with professional radon detection and analysis. DIYers only have access to passive radon tests, which aren’t as reliable as active tests that professionals use. Plus, it’s very easy for DIYers to make mistakes during testing, leading to inaccurate results. If you’re moving into a new home, have concerns about radon, or are due for an updated test, hire a professional.
Radon testing costs depend on whether you hire a professional radon inspector or DIY test. You can expect to pay $150 to $800 to hire a local radon inspector, and home-testing kits range in price from $15 to $250 from home improvement stores. However, it’s best to trust a professional inspector with this task to ensure accurate results. Plus, if you have radon in your home, your testing company can develop a mitigation protocol to keep you and your family safe from the dangerous gas, so it’s well worth the money to hire a professional.
Yes, radon testing is absolutely necessary if you suspect the presence of this hazardous gas, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends testing for all homes in the country. Radon is a pervasive natural gas that can leak through your home’s foundation and seep into the living areas. Unfortunately, the gas is highly carcinogenic and is the second leading cause of lung cancer. Radon testing is crucial for keeping you and your family safe from harm, so hire a radon mitigation specialist to test your home if you suspect its presence in your home.
In most states, radon testing companies don’t need to be licensed or certified by the state, but the companies that analyze the test results and develop radon mitigation protocols do. You should choose a radon testing company that suits your needs, but before hiring a mitigation specialist, check our state licensing tool to make sure the company is properly certified.
