"I absolutely love my new fence. Thank you Texas Fence. I was not sure who to have install my fence. I found by researching Texas Fence that they have been in business for twenty years, are a member of the Better Business Bureau with an A+ rating, and had wonderful reviews. Adriana Medina (sales consultant) came and took measurements. She listened to what I wanted in my new fence and made a few suggestions. She was very easy to talk to and knowledgeable about fences. Jose Garcia and his helper (fence installers) took down the old fence and put up the new fence. Jose put up a cedar board on board fence, made three walk through gates, and a double wide gate. Jose and his helper did a fantastic job. You can tell they take pride in their work. Les Perkins (project manager) answered any questions I had about the project. Dave Malcom (fence technician) came and did a little fine tuning. He also came up with a clever way to hide the 1 inch gap in the double wide gate that I could see into the backyard. I know that wouldn't bother anyone else, but it bothered me. Now, thanks to Dave, it's perfect. I would definitely recommend Texas Fence. I'm very pleased with my new fence."

Small jobs welcome

"We are extremely pleased with the huge fencing replacement job that was done by Brian Cherry and his son. Brian was extremely professional, knowledgeable, informative and he communicated with us every step of the way what he was going to do, the amount of days it would take to finish the job and provided us daily updates of the job. Brian and his son stayed on task through job completion. He kept his word throughout the fencing replacement project. He said he would start the 2nd week of January and he did as promised. He started on Tuesday, January 11th, 2022 and completed the job on Thursday, January 13th. The fencing work he and his son did was Top Notch. He recommended to have the metal frame on our wooden gates, and we totally love it. They cleaned up behind themselves, and no wooden debris or nails was left behind. We highly recommend Residential Fence & Deck. They do quality work and the pricing was reasonable. Thank you Brian Cherry, we absolutely love our fence job and especially being a house who sits on the entrance of the subdivision. Major Kudos to you!"

"I had a chain link fence that required two posts to be replaced. They both had a lot of old concrete that had to be removed before new posts could be installed. Luis worked diligently to completely remove the old concrete and get the new posts and gate installed. It was a very difficult repair. I would highly recommend Luis for any fencing project and I will be using him again in the future. Definitely five stars."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

The best wood for a farm fence is pressure-treated wood that will stand up to various weather conditions, animal contact, and moisture. Farm fences need to resist rot and damage, so choose a species such as cedar or redwood. The natural oils in these woods give them decay resistance, which also makes them ideal for other fence types, such as a wooden snow fence.

Pallet fences come with built-in support through the fence posts you should install on each side of their vertical interior. Stand the fence upright and slide it onto the fence posts, then further support it with 2x4 wood boards that you drill across each point where two pallets connect side-by-side.

Ideally, when you replace a fence post, you should also replace the concrete footing. The concrete bonds to your new post, creating a secure base. If you install a new post into old concrete, it won’t be as sturdy.

That said, it is possible. Sometimes the post will lift right out of the concrete. If not, you can use a high-lift car jack to try and lift the pole out of the footing. Put the new post into the same hole and backfill it with fast-setting concrete. Keep in mind, this won’t work well for metal posts.

A horizontal fence is typically more expensive to build than a vertical fence, often costing between 10% and 20% more. The higher cost is due to the need for a higher grade of lumber and more posts to prevent the boards from sagging, which increases both material and labor expenses. Despite the higher price, horizontal fences tend to be more durable and offer a more distinct, modern look compared to the more common vertical picket style. However, they may not be the best option for privacy, as there can be slight gaps between the horizontal rails.

Many types of farm fencing can work well for your farm, but it depends on the type of animal you need to contain and the size of your property. If you want something quick and temporary, go with a metal T-post fence. If you need something that will last forever, go with a synthetic fence made of composite material or PVC. Electric and barbed wire fences are often chosen for docile livestock, like pigs and cows.
