"We decided to use JVJ Plastering Stucco after reviewing many contractors to repair multiple stucco cracks, window/stucco leaks, and paint the entire house. Hugo and his team were always punctual, kept their work area clean, and completed the work professionally and with minimal inconveniences for myself and my neighbors. They kept us informed throughout the entire process, did an excellent job, and provided a one-year warranty on the work performed (something many contractors refused to do). We would highly recommend this business to our friends and family, and would definitely use them in the future."

"The crew came and installed the windows in a timely manner. It turned out that the builder had stucco over the existing windows. They took their time to remove the windows and stucco. When installing in the new windows one could not even tell that they had to do so much to remove the existing windows. I had decided to replace my windows when a leak developed below my bedroom window. It showed up in the drywall. When a sever storm came I noticed the same bedroom window leaking. I called Chris at 5:00 am and he had a crew come out to check all the windows. It turned out to be caulking around an attic portal which they caulked. It has not leaked since and we have had three sever storms. I can not say enough about this company. They cleaned up and even cleaned all the windows inside and out. The owner called after the installation was complete to make sure I was satisfied. I interviewed 5 companies before going with M&M. If I have roof problems they will be my go to company."

"Armando replaced the flashing and vent pipe where condensation was coming through and dripping in the bathroom when it rained. He diagnosed the problem quickly and accurately, first checking the roof for any leaks. Work is excellent and fairly priced. I would recommend A and M Roofing to all HomeAdvisor users."

"The job was done quickly and the leak is gone! They also found a bullet hole which they also patched. I knew a previous neighbor had fired her gun ( and gotten 2 neighbors garage doors ) but had no idea my roof had been winged too. Just goes to show they do a thorough inspection!"

Stucco questions, answered by experts

German schmear is a durable brick masonry coating. It should last at least a decade or two without flaking or fading, even with minimal maintenance. This makes it an economical option compared to the cost of painting your house exterior, which usually needs to be repainted every five to 10 years to keep it looking its best—thus costing more over the same time period.

Stucco will dry in two to three days, but you should wait one to two months to allow it to cure fully before you paint it. The curing process is slow, but leaving the material exposed to air and natural moisture will help it reach its maximum strength. If you live in a hot, arid climate, wait a month before painting. Wait two months before painting if you live in a more moderate or wet climate.

Choosing between traditional and synthetic stucco depends on your specific needs, budget, and climate. Both options are durable, but synthetic stucco includes an extra layer that makes it more resistant to cracking and a better choice for climates with extreme weather. In hot, dry climates with less rainfall, traditional stucco is a suitable and more affordable option that is less likely to trap moisture. Synthetic stucco also offers more color options and requires less maintenance.

Repaired stucco requires regular inspections, cleaning to prevent mold or mildew build-up, and timely minor repairs to address hairline cracks. Applying protective sealants can also enhance longevity and maintain its appearance.

To maintain stucco, inspect it annually for cracks and clean the surface with a mild detergent. Seal any cracks promptly to prevent water infiltration, and reseal or repaint as needed to preserve its appearance.
