"I absolutely recommend Solid Stucco for stucco repair and exterior wood door varnish & weatherproofing. Luis was in regular communication with me via text, photos, and videos throughout the stucco repair job. His employees worked every day for long hours until the project was complete. After the job was complete, their clean up job was impeccable and the stucco repair was impressive. Thank you!"

"Hugo is an honest contractor for Stucco repairs. His price was reasonable and he communcated frequently during the stucco window repiairs he did. His helper Javier was also very good and you could tell he had a lot of experience. I also appreciated his safety concerns since I have a 4 story Town Home. The stucco repair business is rather corrupt between stucco leak inspectors, realtors and stucco repiar companies. I would not hesitiate to hire Hugo and his company for any stucco work you need, I think you would be quite happy with the outcome!"

Over the course of 2 months I obtained 4 bids to paint the exterior of our house. Our house is approximately 2400 sq.ft. with an attached 500 sq.ft. garage and is stucco.  Carnival's bid came in the most reasonable with the most expensive at $7,000+.  The original bid was around $2,700 but we did an add-on with the back patio floor and front door landing.  I signed and dated the bid, scanned it into my computer and emailed to Carnival and then we scheduled the date for the project.   Since spring is a busy time to paint exteriors (cooler weather), our start date was 3 weeks out, which was no big deal to us.

On the first day, the crew came and power washed the house and then began painting starting with the chimney and back covered patio ceiling.  They were very professional and got right down to business after discussing with us what our color choice was and how we wanted it done, i.e., main house color vs. accent color.  Carnival has an account with Sherwin Williams so we chose paint from their color choices.

By having an account at a paint store and the quantity that's purchased, the company is given discounts which are passed along to the consumer.  (At the end of the project we were presented with an invoice from Sherwin Williams showing the purchased paint and break down of cost.)

The entire project took less than 3 days and my husband and I were very pleased with the results.  The crew did a great job cleaning up the work site and did a good job not getting paint where it didn't belong, i.e., windows, doors, and 3' stone wall that went all the way around the house.

It also helped that there weren't a lot of plants close to the house, which made it easier for the crew to get the job done fast. The only thing I was a bit disappointed was that a few of our smaller plants (8-20" high) were damaged because the ladder was placed on top of them, but this is the only negative thing we discovered throughout the project.

Form of payment was handled with our credit card and by doing so there was a 3% upcharge added to the cost of the labor, not the paint.  If we had paid by check, there would be no up charge.  When I selected Carnival to do the job, the 3% upcharge was mentioned to me before signing the contract.

Overall, our experience with Carnival Custom Painting (Ron Forest) was great and would recommend them to others.

Stucco questions, answered by experts

Stucco repair can best be described as a patch. It involves identifying the problem and fixing that specific damage with additional stucco. If no mold infiltration or an underlying leak is causing the damage, repair is most likely all you need.

Remediation, on the other hand, involves removing the existing siding, fixing the underlying cause of the damage, and then reapplying stucco siding for that wall. It’s a more permanent fix that takes longer to complete and, hence, comes with a steeper price tag than repair.

The cost of a repair depends on several factors, including the severity, complexity, and type of damage. Other key elements are the cost of any necessary replacement parts, hardware, materials, or required software updates. Labor rates and whether emergency service is needed will also influence the final price.

Yes, most services include matching the replacement pieces to the existing flooring. Confirm with your contractor.

The length of time shouldn’t matter much if you stick with lightweight Christmas lights and similar decorations. Those shouldn’t pose risks to your stucco. You should avoid attaching anything to your stucco that could fall because it’s too heavy, which may take part of the stucco with it. Some methods, like using double-sided tape or adhesive hooks, will naturally wear out over time and lead to falling lights, so don’t expect to leave these lights up year-round.

Stucco applied over brick can last 30 to 50 years or more when correctly applied and properly maintained. Stucco’s lifespan can be shortened by improper application, incorrectly mixed material, lack of preparation before application, and lack of maintenance. To get the most life out of your stucco siding, keep up with maintenance and repair any damage as soon as you discover it.
