"The contractor was very nice and very informative we learned several things and will take them into consideration the next time, but his bid was way over what we had received from other Companies"

"When we decided to renovate our home we met with several contractors. We read the reviews for Alter Construction and made an appointment. Eli and Cynthia responded quickly and came to the appointment on time. After meeting Eli and seeing the video testimonial and the work that was done we hired Alter Construction and we were not disappointed. Before our project began Eli was always on time for appointments and kept us informed on when work would begin. Before our project began Eli and Cynthia met with us and gave us a detailed scope of work. After our project began Eli contacted us everyday. We always knew where we were on the project. If a problem arose Eli let us know and always had a solution. Our home looks beautiful. I would highly recommend Alter Construction for any home project."

"Less than a year after we moved in, we discovered mold (to which we are sensitive) in our "new" kitchen. Patriot Construction knew exactly what to do (hint: it does NOT involve bleach or DIY air samples) to handle the situation safely and also whom to contact regarding the testing. In addition to having the proper equipment, they were really good at explaining the different options and what each one might cost. They also could have taken advantage of the situation and told us that we needed an entirely new kitchen, but instead, their in-house master carpenter was able to build the needed cabinets to match the existing. We highly recommend them and will use them again on future projects."
An idea of how you can turn a vaulted ceiling into a cool and useable space.
This used to be a dark and dirty attic. Conversions like this can be a great way to add square footage. With structural changes being one of our strengths, we can show you how to maximize your
space.
Lighting can transform any space into something magical.
Why be normal? Wall tile and a hexagonal stain glass window created an awesome mood for this homeowner.
Herringbone mosaic is very time consuming, but the results are worth it.

"I had a lot of handyman things to do around the house. They came out and did an awesome job. This is the second time they have been to the house and I will definitely use them again!"

"Studio Shed turned out great! Very pleased with final build. Carpentry, painting and electrical went without any issues. Communication with Patricia and Terry was great throughout the process. Painting is exceptional and overall cost was reasonable with all requirements. I would definitely recommend 5T5 for any construction needs. I'm very pleased. Thank You, 5T5 team!"

"My roof was destroyed and interior heavly damaged by a hail storm in 2023. Superior General immediately replaced the roof and chimney. Major issues were resolved inside the house but I delayed plans to renovate because my spouse was very ill. Over the next several months General Contracting stayed in touch with me to choose paint, flooring, countertops, backsplash, shower tile, fireplace tile, new fixtures, fans, ceiling lights, and everything else that is needed to remodel bathrooms, kitchen, and most of a house. When my wife died, General Contracting made sure that all of our plans were incorporated into what looks like a new home. Skylar of General Contracting was invaluable in making recommendations, revisions, and selections during a time where I couldn’t. I now have an updated, more valuable home that two real estate agents have recently complimented. I highly recommend Superior General Contracting."

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

The most common scale for residential blueprints is 1/4 of an inch equals one foot. This scale is the most popular because it’s easier for everyone involved, from professionals to homeowners, to understand the building’s actual dimensions. Also, it allows blueprints to have the necessary details without cluttering the page.

While you will always work with a team of professionals at some point during your home build, homeowners with experience can take on some part of the process. Manage the initial brainstorm, brief writeup, and floor layout phase with minimal assistance before contacting a general contractor. And while you can purchase stock blueprints for some home designs, it's always best to speak with professionals when choosing one ideal for your property.

The best way to start designing a house is to know what you want before designing. Making a list of your biggest priorities in a home will help. Designing a house without an idea of what you need or want in a home will lead to many trials and errors that could make it harder to figure out what you need in your design.

No, it’s not legal for unlicensed individuals to conduct structural calculations for buildings or building repairs. Not only do licensing requirements prevent DIYers from tackling this project, but mistakes can also be extremely dangerous and put your property and anyone inside or near it at risk of severe injury or even death. You should always hire a licensed and certified local structural engineer to make structural calculations.

Universal design costs can be minimal when you add them during construction; however, adding universal design principles to existing homes can sometimes increase renovation costs. For example, a mid-grade bathroom remodel is estimated to cost around $30,000, while a standard universal design remodel can cost closer to $40,000. Adding accessible design components can include widening hallways ($500 to $2,000), curbless showers ($2,000 to $8,000), and widening doors ($400 to $800). Keep in mind that these increased costs can lead to higher resale values because universal homes may appeal to a wider variety of buyers.
