"My experience with Apex Septic was 10 out of 10! Matthew was there at the very beginning, explaining in detail the pros and cons of each system and the permits I would need. He went above and beyond, making a daunting, challenging and sometimes confusing project crystal clear and easier to navigate. I would hire Apex again and highly recommend!"

"I enjoyed working with them! There were mishaps as they tend to happen through a big job like this. However, they handled everything with utmost professionalism. Sandy was on top of things and followed up with me even when I dropped the ball. Our septic tank and pump went out the weekend my son was born. So It was pretty hectic. However, They handled the problem without so much of me having to be involved. Through the digging process, and they accidentally hit my sprinkler system and busted my pipes. They had a plumber a couple of days later the fix the problems no issues. And to make me feel better, they gave me a $200 credit. I found that to be a classy gesture. I highly recommend these guys!"

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

How do you set your well’s pressure tank? All you need to do is first drain the tank of water and find the pressure switch. Remove the switch cover and adjust the switch with a wrench—clockwise to increase water pressure, and counter-clockwise to reduce it. Each complete turn of the nut on the switch should equal 2.5 psi. Once this is done, replace the switch cover. All that’s left is to adjust the pressure of the tank itself using an air compressor and a tire gauge to support the new setting.

If you’re going away on vacation or leaving your home for a long time, it’s a good idea to switch off your well pump and pressure tank before you go. This way you can prevent any damage from unexpected leaks that may occur or unforeseen electrical issues while you’re away.

With regular servicing and general upkeep, both a well pump and pressure tank can last for years. The average lifespan of a well pump is around eight to 15 years. A well pressure tank can last from seven to 10 years. How long a well pump and pressure tank lasts also depends on a variety of factors such as type, size, material, and brand.

Options include submersible, jet, and centrifugal pumps. Choose based on water needs and well depth.

Ideally, you should conduct a mechanical inspection and a bacterial or well water inspection yearly. While you might be able to push it off to every other year, it’s best to have peace of mind, especially when it comes to something that you use so frequently.

If you experience repeated gastrointestinal illness in the household, it's important to test the well water more regularly for quality and cleanliness to check for bacteria.
