"We had them out before to install a new heater & light in our Master bath, install a new ceiling fan in one room and repair another one.
It required plaster for the new heater which they had someone do also.  They did a good job.  Later, when our light went out in the Master bath we were not able to open to put in new lights so called them.  They could not get out to do the work the next day as they were booked.  However, the owner came out personally to open it for us so we would not have to wait.  He not only took care of that but was a fine young man who told us he has been in business over 10 years and had only good things to say about his employees.  We would recommend them to our neighbors and plan to use them as needed.

"It was my lights in my ceiling that they changed. They fixed some electrical outlets, and hung a ceiling fan for me. They changed some of my ceiling fixtures. It was a full service/look at the house. We fixed everything that was a little shaky, or old. They gave me a discount for being a member, by sending me a check at the end. For what we needed, it worked out good."

"Bob arrived on time & made courtesy phone calls. He surveyed the projects to make notes on the materials hew would need. When he got back form Home Depot, Bob started with the roof vent, then he re screened the windows, removed the satellites and cords. Bob sealed & painted the gap on the side came in to fix the fan. The fan still wobbles, but not as bad as before. Bod id a great job! He was professional the whole time and would check in and let me know the task he was going to do."

"It went very well. Booth Sen was professional, friendly, and did a great job. This is the second time I worked with him, and I would want to work with him again. After he installed the ceiling fan, it turned out that the fan was defective. He took the time to talk to the fan company tech service and the store where I purchased the fan. The store had a replacement fan in stock. For a small additional fee, Booth took down the defective fan, returned it to the store, got the new fan, and installed it. I have a time crunch for making improvements to the house, so I was especially appreciative for Booth making the time to make everything work that day. (Note that the price I mention here included the extra trip due to the defective fan.)"

"I think they are awesome! They are extremely professional and very timely. I got a call every evening from the manager of when they would be there the next day and what work would be done. The work they provided was excellent. MJ, Micky, and Emily showed wonderful professionalism. Micky provided a very detailed bid and list and they lived up to every one of the items. I would recommend them without hesitation."

"We could not be more pleased with Bob Ryden. He is honest, he does amazing work, he is meticulous and *always* cleans up (this is huge based on my experience with other contractors). Here is one example of how cool he is. After he did the master bathroom (and it was fabulous) we asked him to paint the office and we picked a greenish color for the walls and ceiling. I was at work and Bob called asking if I was *sure* that I wanted to paint the ceiling green. Since I had worked with Bob for a few months I was smart enough to pick up on his subtle question so I asked him what he thought. Well, Bob thought it would make the room look too dark, so end of discussion. We painted the ceiling a lighter color and it is awesome. Bob is never "pushy" but he has a solid sense of what works and what doesn't and he'll take the time to check in on that. I will always be grateful to Bob for taking the initiative-I don't know any other contractors who would have thought about it or made the effort."

"Mark is a true gem- very punctual, knowledgable about virtually any home repair/improvement, efficient, hard-working and very easy to talk to. I thought the French door and gate would take a full hour and was shocked to find that he completed both problems within 25 minutes. I asked Mark to take a look at another door that was out of alignment and he fixed that as well with time to spare. Instead of just leaving after he finished, Mark spent the rest of the hour patiently answering my pesky home improvement questions that saved me from the hassle of contacting different providers, not to mention I felt that Mark really knows what he is talking about based on years of experience as a contractor. He is a busy person but definitely worth waiting for an opening on his calendar. I was hesitant to use a handyman after experiencing less than stellar results from previous other providers, however, Mark completely won me over. Count me in as another satisfied member of Mark's "Fan" club.

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

For a 12x12 room, a fan between 36" and 50" will work, as it falls in the range for spaces up to 144 square feet. These size fans provide adequate air circulation and ensure a comfortable environment without being overpowering. Even better, they come in a broad range of styles, offering aesthetics and functionality, making them suitable choices for maintaining an ideal room temperature and enhancing overall comfort.

There are several telltale signs to let you know that your ceiling fan needs servicing or replacement. For instance, if it’s wobbling, rotating too slowly, or if your ceiling fan is making noise such as squeaks, buzzes, and thumps, it’s time to have it looked at by a professional. Not only may it indicate a potential problem with the fan itself, but it could also signal a red flag that it’s improperly assembled or there’s an issue with the wiring.

Essential tools for ceiling fan installation include a ladder, screwdriver, pliers, wire strippers, and a circuit tester. If the ceiling is angled or features unique configurations, ensure the availability of a compatible mounting bracket.

Whether you can install a ceiling fan yourself depends on if you're replacing an existing fixture or installing one where no wiring exists. If you are replacing an existing fan, an experienced DIYer may be able to do the job, which can save on labor costs. This work typically doesn’t require a permit, but there’s always a safety risk when dealing with electrical components, so hiring a pro is still a good idea, especially if you aren't handy. Keep in mind you may need a special ladder for high or vaulted ceilings. However, if you are installing a new ceiling fan where there is no current fixture, you must hire a licensed electrician. In most areas, it is required by law that a professional runs new wiring and pulls the necessary permits. Attempting to install wiring yourself can be dangerous and a code violation.

No, a ceiling fan doesn’t have to be wired to a switch, but it’s often more convenient. You can use the included pull chain if your ceiling isn’t too high or install a remote module later, as they are a cheap, easy-to-install option that’ll let you control both the fan and light fixture.
