We had great experiences with a very smart woman electrician from Mr. Electric in the past to replace garage light fixtures and repair some interior kitchen light shorts, so they were top of our list to call for the new issues. However, when I called the person fielding the call told me they do not do repairs of exterior lights and would only replace the entire fixtures, even for the one that simply has a stuck base of a lightbulb in it because a bulb broke when we were changing it. Why would they not repair external light fixtures and only do entire replacements of them? It seems very odd. They could not refer me to another electrician who does repair external fixtures, so here I am taking a look at Angi reviews.

Everything accomplished cleanly and efficiently. The idea of a car charging plug requires a bigger system upgrade as our service is maxed out. Will definitely use them when that gets back in it he budget.

They employee was very nice. The whole experience was inconvenient and expensive. I had to go to home depot to get parts that I was unfamiliar with. I was able to take pictures and text them to employee to make sure it was the right part. I had to do a lot of running around for the high price they charged to do 2 minor things.

My dryer wouldn't turn on, he found an issue with my circuit breaker and replaced. Everything works fine, he did a great job. It was efficient and he fixed the issue, he knew what he was doing .

The quality of service was fine, but the price seemed very high for switching out two outlets, which took about ten minutes ($270!).
Response from Mr. Electric of Austin

"Hey [Member Name Removed]. Thank you for leaving us a review. That's how we can improve our business. In the past month we've hired a service manager that is taking a look at our prices to make sure we're worth what we're charging. I brought up your invoice to him and we are going to be looking it over to see what we can do. Thanks so much for using Mr. Electric!"

The tightening of the connection prevented the breaker from flipping off again. But $185 ???? Come on people.

They were very responsive, the technician was very friendly.  BUT - the coupon offered on Angie's web site is useless, unless you are in Indiana.  What good is that?  I'm in Texas.  The technician said he had a coupon good for $20, which he brought with him - and applied to my bill.  High marks for them, and (once again) lousy marks for Angie's List.  At least the recommended providers on Angie's List seem to be accurate - the work was done well, efficiently, and was exactly what I wanted.  The technician even pointed out an issue with what i wanted to do - a technical problem involving a switch to a socket when i needed half the socket to remain hot - we resolved exactly what i needed, and the job was done well.

I used Mr. Electric based on a referral from Lights Fantastic. The electrician was fine. But he had to go by pricing from his book that left little area for common sense. He hung an under counter kitchen light (my purchase). It is currently not working. Cost: $250 On a return trip (MY BAD) he repaired the provided under counter light (STILL NOT WORKING), replaced a lightbulb in a tall front tree ( NOT WORKING NOW) and rehung an exterior light in the back yard. Cost: $400 I also had purchased 2 new exterior garage sconces for Lights Fantastic that Mr. Electric said they would install for $400. After being burned I had both installed by a licensed electrician for $150. Mr. Electric is a complete rip off. I partially blame myself for trusting them for two visits. I have contacted Lights Fantastic about their horrible service. I also called their office to complain and received an initial call back, but they have since not responded. Meanwhile all my overcharged lighting issues are still not working. What a complete waste of money!

Electrician Wade was extremely professional.  He has a strong work ethic and did a top-notch job.  I will absolutely call him for any future electrical needs.  The staff personnel at their office were equally professional.  I can highly recommend this company.

Terrence was friendly and on time. He also wore slippers over his outdoor shoes which is always a nice courtesy. He listened well and worked in a timely manner. He explained things well and asked questions that were relevant to the scope of his work.

The electrician was very nice, but despite common sense, all he could charge on was what was in his "system.", or laptop. Here are my charges: $240 for installation of task lighting I PROVIDED. 36". $400++ for replacing an exterior *light bulb* and reinforcing an exterior light that had already been anchored before. It worked and was on the ground. I am now $640 into them for PROVIDED lights and repair. I have traded voice mails/emails with the accounts payable at Mr. Electric but he has stopped returning my calls and emails. The quote I got from them before this fiscal disaster was AN ADDITIONAL $400-$600 to hang my new lights outside my garage. That would be in addition to my build replacements. This is highway robbery. I'm calling Lights Fantastic who recommended them with a complaint. Meanwhile I have hired someone who has agreed to hang my lights purchased from Lights Fantastic for...$150. Big difference from their quote of $400-600. It's insulting that they charge so much and then won't address our concerns. I admit I was an idiot to use them twice. I hope you won't be.

Contacted Mr. Electric Austin location to install a thermostat and troubleshoot an electrical problem (outside outlet was tripping if used a  GSI outlet in a bathroom). Wait time for an appointment was one week, I left work early to make service window.  A half hour into my call window called Mr. Electric was immediately put on hold for five minutes till someone answered and I asked when the tech was actually going to show up was put on hold again, and when the lady came back on the phone said the tech was still on his last call it was taking longer than expected. The lady asked if she could give me a call back when she had a better idea when he will be out to my area I of course said Yes.
Well, a half hour later the lady called me back and said the tech could make it there in a half hour I said that was fine.  The tech showed up followed by a unknown gentlemen who I assumed was a manager doing a proficiency check on the tech he never introduced himself or even talked to me.  The tech greeted me and asked what I needed done I first showed him the thermostat the main reason for the call and because it was a smart one he could not install it which annoyed me greatly.
Moving onto the next reason for the call he asked what the electrical problem was so he could evaluate it for pricing purposes I explained what was going on with the outside front outlet and the bathroom GSI outlet and he asked for a vacuum to try and trigger the breaker and tested both the bathroom's outlet and the front outlet well he could not replicate the outlet's problem we even got a electrical lawn mower out and tried for more amps-nothing!
In light of all this the tech was extremely professionally even though we could not trigger the outlet tripping he never made me feel I was wasting his time.  I believe the electrical problem might have gotten fixed when they moved (Mr. Electric)  the washer to its own breaker previously  all three outlets might have been on a shared breaker.  I just didn't want to mess with electricity which was way I put the service all in.  Not having the thermostat installed is still an issue but this wasn't the tech's fault nor being late in light of all this I did not get charged for the call.

They were good, did exactly what they said they were going to do, they were on time, extremely professional, did a good job and told our father to take care of it so if there's anything like that ever happened again what we needed to do until someone could get here and they were just very good. I would use them again in the future.
