"We installed the water softener and reverse osmosis over a month ago. The quality of water is fantastic! Friends and guests commented on how good the water taste. It’s also noticeable on skin, hair, and fabrics: so soft!! We had a small problem with water pressure in the reverse osmosis spout. The technician came out immediately and came back a second time to fix the problem to our satisfaction. Today we are expecting the quality control visit. The filtration system has not had a noticeable effect on our water bill. We are very pleased and highly recommend it!"

We provide everything from installation and repair, to service and maintenance for all your HVAC and plumbing needs. Call Levy & Son at (469) 250-0932 anytime, 24/7, for all your heating and cooling, indoor air quality, and plumbing needs.
"Originally came out to attempt to fix a water heater on a Friday evening. After about 5 hours and the part they brought would not fit, they had to weld a pipe from the second water heater just so we could have partial hot water over the weekend (see attached picture). They left and said they would return on Monday/Tuesday. On Monday, they called and said they could only replace and not repair the unit which I refused. Now I am receiving bills for work not performed and have tried calling their billing department numerous times to only be given the runaround. I do not feel someone should have to pay for work that was not received or maybe that is their business model. Either way, would not recommend."

"Al’s installed a new blower, evaporator and furnace in our attic back in March. They also redid some ductwork and added a return. Our unit had stopped blowing cool air, and we had poor airflow downstairs. The technician who came for the service call, Dave, diagnosed the problem and was awesome. He’s thorough, knowledgeable and a perfectionist. He installed an entire new system in our attic in one day. The price was a little higher than another quote we received, but I felt more comfortable using Al’s given that Dave had recognized problems with the ductwork and lack of sufficient returns and included this in his cost, whereas the other company had not. So the system was installed and seems to be working great. However, i have now scheduled 2 separate service calls for them to provide the follow up inspection to ensure everything is working as anticipated. They suggested this upon installation. Not only have they been no-shows for both appointments, which has caused me to waste 2 of my days off from work, but they haven’t even had the courtesy to call. To make matters worse, they use a call service to take their calls, so you can’t reach them and they haven’t bothered to return any of my calls. So at this point, I’m not sure they’d even bother honor the warranty if something went wrong. I’m glad I’ve waited to write my review until now. To sum it up, Al’s is there when they stand to make a quick buck, but can’t be found when it comes to following up on their service obligations. If they decide to contact me and actually show up for the service call, I’ll update my review. But I won’t change the substance of it."

The license requirements for water softener installation depend on your location. Some municipalities require that the installer hold a plumbing license, some require a permit and an inspection, but no license for the installer, and some require a permit and a license for the installer. Regardless of the local laws in your area, it’s always a good idea to hire a licensed plumber or installer. These pros will install your system properly and have the experience to size the system appropriately. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to check your installer’s license status.
Water softeners are worth the money if you live in an area with hard water. Hard water is safe to drink, but it poses serious threats to your plumbing system. The minerals in hard water will gradually build up on the inside walls of your pipes, reducing water flow to your fixtures. The minerals can also gradually corrode your plumbing system, reduce its lifespan, and increase the risk of leaks. Hard water also makes soap and detergent less effective. Water softener systems can solve all these issues, making them a great investment.
It’s possible to install a water softener yourself, but we don’t recommend it. Water softeners require working with copper pipes and electrical wiring, neither are suitable tasks for most DIYers. Plus, working with water and electricity together is dangerous and could pose a risk to your safety. Water softeners also need to be calibrated so that they don’t make your water too soft, as soft water poses just as many risks as hard water. Overall, it’s well worth hiring a local water softener installer to place your water softener system.
The cost to install a water softener system is $1,500 on average, ranging between $200 and $6,000. The labor for water softener work typically costs between $150 and $1,000, so you can add that to your equipment costs to get an accurate total. Your price will depend on many factors, including the following:
System capacity
Home size
Water hardness levels
Type of water softener
Presence of electricity in the installation area
Local permit costs
Your water softener size is based on your total household water consumption. In most cases, you can assume the average household member will use around 75 gallons per day. Multiply that by the number of people in your home, then multiply by 10 (for the typical grains per gallon). You’ll get a number in grains that should help roughly size your water softener. However, it’s best to hire a professional to install your system and use more exact numbers, like your exact average water consumption per day and starting water hardness.
