I was having doubts on these guys and asked for an invoice for the repairs they were doing. After three days of nagging, they sent out an invoice which had an additional line item (~$495 for locating the leak, which was never done), that we were disputing for a while. We had financed this project owing to the high cost. The day the Well's Fargo financing statement arrives, we notice that there was a $300 in excess compared to the invoice, posted to the account.
Amanda, the one who generally responds to your call, was not very helpful in resolving this. I demanded to speak with the manager, Scott Cotham. Upon asking him about the $795 discrepancy, he said he will work on resolving this and get back to me the next morning. The next afternoon, they simply sent out a new invoice with new rates that made up for the 795 difference, i.e. they simply increased their price! How can their price change overnight, especially when they charge by the book?
To be clear, the locate leak service was removed from the invoice and the rates for the other services (Access/Permit/Water Task+Egress back-fill) was increased. They stated that the older invoice had wrong pricing due to a computer input error. The labor price did not change, which means the management is pocketing the money.
In the meanwhile, I would like to let everybody know that this is a clear indication of a complete lack of integrity and professionalism. In my opinion, this deems them unfit to provide any professional service. An unfair service is still a bad service... I am still hoping that there is someone out there at Al's with some integrity and professionalism to resolve this issue in a fair manner.
My mother-in-law wants a utility sink installed in the laundry room. I do what I'm told. She bought the sink and such, but we need a professional to install it. I called Al's and scheduled an appointment. I then called mom to make sure the time would be OK with her. She wasn't home and I couldn't get her on the phone so I called Al's again and cancelled the appointment. I said I would call again when I could confirm a time with mom.
So, the guy showed up anyway. The good news was that mom was home. The bad news is that the estimate was for $2,200.00. I passed on that opportunity. I was charged $49.00 for the visit. Remember, this was an appointment I had called to cancel. I had mom pay the $49.00 and I consider it money well spent. I learned a valuable lesson. If you can afford to pay Mark Zuckerburg (Facebook) to put your ad in my news feed, you probably need to charge more for your service.
Now, to be fair the Al's Plumbing. The young man was very nice to mom, and he was nice to me on the phone when we discussed the project. I have no doubt that he would have done a fine job.
I wasn't home when they showed up but my sister was and didn't question the work they did or what they charged. The pipe was above ground, easy access and the pipe was less than1 1/2 ft. long.
I f I had been home I wouldn't have allowed the work to be done because $444 is ridulous and highway robbery. I will never use them again nor will I ever recommend them.
I sent them on their way and started researching on Angie's list. I went with Force Home Services and scheduled an appointment for today. Their plumber, Guy, just left and guess how much it cost? By going through and using the coupon on Angie's list, it cost me a grand total of $139! AND, he fixed BOTH master bath faucets, not just one!!!! (Flapper cost $28.00+$111.00 Angie's List coupon for 2 hours labor.)
I AM A HAPPY CAMPER! (And, I'm trying to figure out other ways to spread the word about Al's Plumbing RIPOFF! $139 Vs. $1082.00....you do the math!!!!!)
