"Alex came out 3 times to help me work through changes I had in mind, and he and his team did a fantastic job! They resodded my yard, and put in a drain and flowerbed. I'm extremely pleased with the work they did. Angelica worked great with me getting everything scheduled and rescheduled to my complete satisfaction. I will definitely hire them again for future jobs around my property."

"Ruben was punctual and gave us a fair price for the work to be done. He was able to clear all the fall leaves, dead brush and clear out a ton of weeds to ready my mom's property for sale. We may still need some more work and will definitely use him again in the future."

"We hired Cedar Works and Outdoors to remove 4 large trees from our back yard that were too close to our house. Ryan was great to work with. He is very knowledgeable, communicates very well, and was always on time (which is far more than I can say for several competitors we had quote)â ¦ he was able to give us great advise for future project and even talked us out of a few things. His prices are great and he completed the job as advertised. I would highly recommend Cedar Works and Outdoors as we plan to use them for all our future landscaping needs."

"Amazing work! They did an incredible job in our yard. It was a huge project and they worked efficiently and quickly and transformed our yard completely. They have such great attention to detail and even went above and beyond cleaning the dead leaves out of baby’s outside toys. They have a customer for life! Highly recommend."

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

Lead removal can take a few days to several weeks, depending on the work needed, particularly if the lead is widespread and in hard-to-reach areas.

Professional lead-paint abatement companies use a variety of methods to remove lead-based paint, depending on each particular situation. Some of the most common methods include:

  • Total removal: $8–$17 per square foot

  • Demolition and replacement: $1,000–$15,000 per project

  • Encapsulation: $4 per square foot

  • Enclosure: $10 per square foot

  • Chemical stripping: $10–$17 per square foot

Disposing of old paint, bleach, oil, and fertilizer should be handled by a company that specializes in this kind of waste. Many private junk removal companies do not dispose of these items. Because these materials are hazardous to the environment and dangerous to handle or dispose of improperly, you should confirm with your local municipality about places to take hazardous materials for safe disposal.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), hazardous waste is generally classified into four main categories:

1. Characteristic Wastes: These exhibit at least one of four hazardous traits: ignitability (flammable, like gasoline), corrosivity (can rust or decompose materials, like car batteries), reactivity (unstable and can explode, like aerosol cans), or toxicity (harmful when ingested, like lead-based paint).

2. Listed Wastes: These are specific wastes from manufacturing and industrial processes that the EPA has officially designated as hazardous. They include byproducts from processes that use solvents, pesticides, and other chemicals.

3. Universal Wastes: These are commonly generated hazardous items that are subject to streamlined regulations. Examples include batteries, pesticides, mercury-containing equipment (e.g., bulbs), and some lamps.

4. Mixed Wastes: This category includes waste that contains both hazardous and radioactive components, making it subject to regulation by both the EPA and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

If lead is detected in a property, steps should include arranging for professional removal or containment, notifying all occupants, and implementing interim safety measures to reduce exposure.
