Some fast-acting products can rot a tree stump in four to six weeks. Keep in mind, these products contain harsh chemicals that may prevent regrowth in the area. First, drill several holes into the stump using a power drill, then pour potassium nitrate pellets into the holes. Afterward, cover the stump with a tarp to retain moisture and block sunlight, then place mulch on top to secure it in place.

It can take anywhere from a few years to several decades for a tree’s trunk to rot. A tree stump, on the other hand, can take up to 10 years to disappear after it’s decayed naturally.

Mature lilac bushes that are large and overgrown are more challenging to remove than small lilac bushes. Large lilac bushes have deeper roots that are more widespread, making it harder to dig them up and remove them. If you don’t dig under and around the primary roots, then you run the risk of the lilac bush growing back. So, it is a time-consuming process if done correctly.
