"I have relied on this business for service and repairs to all of my apartment complex a/c units since 2010. Texas summers are hot and  tenants can't  be without a/c service very long. BenCro Mechnical has always found a way to respond very quickly when help is needed, even when their other service requests are numerous. My tenants and I appreciate their efforts. I am giving my highest recommendation to this business."

""Outstanding Service and Expertise from GIL Air LLC" I am incredibly impressed with the service provided by Gil and his team at GIL Air LLC. I recently had a new HVAC system installed in my house, and the entire experience was fantastic from start to finish. Gil was not only punctual for our appointment but also incredibly knowledgeable about the entire process. He took the time to talk me through every step of the installation, explaining exactly what needed to be done and why certain choices were made for optimal efficiency in my home. This transparency and clear communication really put my mind at ease. The work was completed efficiently, and the professionalism displayed was top-tier. "I was able to get on their schedule the first business day after calling. Daniel came out and quickly diagnosed the issue and got my heat working again. He also provided a couple of safety addition suggestions to prevent overflow/flooding during the summer months. It only cost me the standard service charge, and enrolled in a PM agreement for both HVAC systems. I would absolutely hire again."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Signs that your air conditioner capacitor is bad or failing include a range of symptoms. The AC unit may not turn on at all, or it might struggle to start before shutting down randomly or in the middle of a cooling cycle. You might hear a humming or banging noise when it attempts to start, or the compressor might hum without the unit actually running. Other indicators include a smell or smoke coming from the unit, the blower circulating room-temperature air instead of cold air, and an unexpected increase in your energy bills.

On a summer day, expect your AC to run between 12 and 16 hours. However, this time frame depends on just how hot it is outside and the comfortable temperature you’re hoping to maintain indoors. Assuming the size of your AC is appropriate for the space you’re trying to cool, it shouldn’t be a problem for it to work this many hours.

While 72 degrees is a comfortable setting for many people, it’s likely not the most efficient temperature setting for your air conditioning unit. By pushing the temperature up to 75 or 78 degrees, you stand to save money on your energy bill. That said, these temperatures may be too warm to be comfortable for some people and are definitely too warm for most people to sleep comfortably.

You may be able to clean mold from your air conditioner in some cases. If the mold growth only takes up a small area, you can use either vinegar or bleach mixed with water to remove it. Larger areas of mold should be left to the professionals, though. It's also a good idea to leave mold removal to the pros if you are sensitive to mold or have asthma.

As a general rule, you should have your HVAC system professionally serviced at least once a year, though it's best to follow the manufacturer's specific recommendations. Many experts suggest twice-yearly maintenance: once in the spring for the cooling system and once in the fall for the heating system. This is especially recommended for older units, systems with recurring issues, or heat pumps that provide both heating and cooling. Regular service, which can cost between $100 and $550, keeps the system running efficiently, helps prevent costly future repairs, and saves money on utility bills.
