"I will start by saying that our experience with Madd Air-Heating and Cooling was superb and they are on the top of our list for future HVAC service. Called on a Saturday to set up a visit on Monday. As I was not available my wife was the person that had to interact with the tech. The tech came out at the agreed time. After inspecting the A/C, he found the unit to be down ~0.5 lbs of coolant and topped it off. He looked at both the compressor outside and the air mover in the attic. He cleaned the coils. After conducting the inspection he stated that while there was nothing wrong with the unit, it appeared that the compressor was nearing the end of its service life and would probably need to be replaced very soon. He did not try to up sell any services, which I really appreciate. I felt that we were treated very ethically and honestly by the tech. I have no complaints and would very strongly recommend Madd Air-Heating and Cooling. As I stated before, when it is time to replace our compressor they will be the first provider we call."

"We have had five other companies come out to look at our ducts. Our bedrooms are extremely hot and all the other companies told me there was nothing wrong, and one company even told us we needed to spend $6k on new ductwork. Mr. Boyd is the only one who was able to help solve our problem. He was able to fix our problem the same day, and he also recommended other things we could do to increase our air flow. He was very friendly and honest. We will definitely call him back out in the future if we have any issues."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

There are several common types of HVAC systems that you may have, including split systems, hybrid HVAC, duct-free systems, packaged heating and air, geothermal heating, or even portable units for heating or cooling. If you aren’t sure which type is in your home or are looking to install something different, you should consult an HVAC pro to determine which option is right for your heating and cooling needs.

The right type of HVAC system will depend on several factors, including your climate, budget, preferences, and existing HVAC setup. For example, if you live in an area that experiences extreme weather, then a split system would likely be the best option. Or, if budget is a concern, consider installing a ductless system in just one room.

The cost to replace an AC evaporator coil is typically between $600 and $2,500, with an average cost around $1,300 to $1,350. The price of the coil itself can range from $550 to $1,100, depending on the brand, size, and style, with professional labor adding around $700. Replacing a condenser coil is generally less expensive, costing about $800. Because this repair involves handling refrigerants, it requires a licensed AC professional. Regular inspections, which cost between $200 and $600, can help prevent costly coil replacements.

Dry mode positively impacts indoor air quality by reducing excess moisture, which stops the growth of mold and mildew. By maintaining optimal humidity levels, dry mode creates a less hospitable environment for allergens and airborne pathogens, improving overall air quality. However, it's essential to ensure proper ventilation to prevent stale air accumulation.

Not if you have a standard unit. Because portable AC units actually work to dehumidify the room, you’ll likely need to drain the unit from time to time—but you won’t have to put water into it. There is, however, another type of air conditioner called a swamp cooler that requires water to operate. If you have a swamp cooler, you may need to fill a reservoir with water and potentially ice. But a swamp cooler is different from a standard portable AC unit.
