"I have relied on this business for service and repairs to all of my apartment complex a/c units since 2010. Texas summers are hot and  tenants can't  be without a/c service very long. BenCro Mechnical has always found a way to respond very quickly when help is needed, even when their other service requests are numerous. My tenants and I appreciate their efforts. I am giving my highest recommendation to this business."

"I was able to get on their schedule the first business day after calling. Daniel came out and quickly diagnosed the issue and got my heat working again. He also provided a couple of safety addition suggestions to prevent overflow/flooding during the summer months. It only cost me the standard service charge, and enrolled in a PM agreement for both HVAC systems. I would absolutely hire again."

"I received six quotes from Angie’s list. Hugo was the first one to call me. He came by the same day and provided a free quote. Once approved he immediately performed the air duct cleaning, installation of uv light in my hvac plenum, fireplace flue cleaning, repaired brick mortar and waterproofing of the chimney top of my house. He is very professional and kept me informed along the process sending before and after pics. I like that the work is done efficiently and it has warranty. Hugo shows pride in his work, well done. Thank you Home Air Quality Services! I will recommend you to friends and family."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

The average life span of an HVAC system is 15 to 20 years. Even if your old air conditioner is still functional, it isn't as energy-efficient as a newer system (especially one with an Energy Star designation). Older HVAC systems aren't as efficient, and the 10-year mark is when you should start making full system replacement plans. Twenty years in, that plan should be well underway rather than waiting for the unit to die.

AC leaks are common, and an HVAC pro can usually fix them. You may be able to resolve some leaks on your own, but a professional HVAC technician should handle most AC leak repair. If left ignored, an AC leak could cause serious damage to your system or leave you with expensive water damage, usually leading to more costly repairs or replacements.

Not if you have a standard unit. Because portable AC units actually work to dehumidify the room, you’ll likely need to drain the unit from time to time—but you won’t have to put water into it. There is, however, another type of air conditioner called a swamp cooler that requires water to operate. If you have a swamp cooler, you may need to fill a reservoir with water and potentially ice. But a swamp cooler is different from a standard portable AC unit.

High humidity is one of the most common reasons for air vents to sweat or produce condensation. When the cool, dry air from your HVAC unit meets warm and moist air in your home, it will cause condensation. Insulating your ductwork can help prevent this. If you live in a very humid region, a dehumidifier can also help.

The right type of HVAC system will depend on several factors, including your climate, budget, preferences, and existing HVAC setup. For example, if you live in an area that experiences extreme weather, then a split system would likely be the best option. Or, if budget is a concern, consider installing a ductless system in just one room.
