"I have relied on this business for service and repairs to all of my apartment complex a/c units since 2010. Texas summers are hot and  tenants can't  be without a/c service very long. BenCro Mechnical has always found a way to respond very quickly when help is needed, even when their other service requests are numerous. My tenants and I appreciate their efforts. I am giving my highest recommendation to this business."

"I was able to get on their schedule the first business day after calling. Daniel came out and quickly diagnosed the issue and got my heat working again. He also provided a couple of safety addition suggestions to prevent overflow/flooding during the summer months. It only cost me the standard service charge, and enrolled in a PM agreement for both HVAC systems. I would absolutely hire again."

"I moved into our house in July of 2020, knowing that all three of our air conditioning systems were shot. I called three different HVAC companies to get a quote on replacing my systems. Two of the vendors spent a short period of time and shot me quotes without really addressing my concerns. They just wanted to rip and replace my equipment and not look for the underlying issues causing such poor performance. Carlâ s Quality Cooling was a radically different experience than the other two. Their dedicated HVAC engineer, Justin, identified that the original systems were installed with large overlaps across the physical layout of the house, which made it impossible to efficiently heat or cool. They also found that my home has foam insulation and should have a sealed attic with 98% efficient furnaces instead of the 80% units that require a vented attic to provide sufficient outside air for safe operation. Justin redesigned the entire HVAC system, including ductwork and zoning, which made an enormous difference in comfort throughout the house, and my electric bill dropped dramatically. Best of all, we got a custom-engineered solution with a longer warranty period, and the price was lower than the other two bids. Thank you, Chris, with Mongomery County Pest Control, for referring me to Carlâ s! Thanks to Justin for being such a skilled HVAC system engineer, Isaac, the lead tech that can tweak and tune the systems and zoning to perfection, Jorden, and the others who perform my twice-a-year service and the customer service team! I donâ t usually write reviews, but after 3 years of service, this one is long overdue."

"I received six quotes from Angie’s list. Hugo was the first one to call me. He came by the same day and provided a free quote. Once approved he immediately performed the air duct cleaning, installation of uv light in my hvac plenum, fireplace flue cleaning, repaired brick mortar and waterproofing of the chimney top of my house. He is very professional and kept me informed along the process sending before and after pics. I like that the work is done efficiently and it has warranty. Hugo shows pride in his work, well done. Thank you Home Air Quality Services! I will recommend you to friends and family."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

To reset your air conditioner, start by turning it off at the thermostat. Then, shut off power to the AC system at the circuit breaker. Some units have a dedicated "reset" button; if yours does, press and hold it for three to five seconds. If your air conditioner doesn't have a reset button, or if you are resetting it after a power outage, leave the circuit breaker off for at least 30 minutes to allow the system to reset itself. Afterward, turn the power back on at the breaker, turn on the AC from the thermostat, and set it to "cool" to test the system.

The decision to put your AC unit on the roof or ground depends on the climate in your area, the roof shape, accessibility, and budget. If you live in a warm climate or don’t have existing ductwork, it’s likely best to stick to a traditional AC unit that sits on the ground. However, if you lack yard space, live in a mild climate, and have easy access to the roof, your home may benefit from a rooftop AC unit.

Water buildup in your HVAC system is a cause for alarm. If water accumulates in your ductwork, it can drastically lower your home's air quality and create safety hazards. These risks include mold growth, damage to your HVAC system, and attracting pests that are seeking water into your ducts. Proper insulation and sealing of ducts can prevent this, and regular inspection and maintenance can address water damage problems before they become too severe.

For washable or electrostatic air conditioner filters, you can soak and rinse them with water. If you rinse the filter with water, make sure to use a faucet, shower head, or garden hose with a gentle water pressure setting, as strong water pressure could damage the filter.

But for disposable filters, water could ruin the filter, even allowing mold to grow in the filter. Instead, these filters should be replaced.

Yes, it’s normal for an AC to drip water. In fact, it’s part of the dehumidifying process that takes place inside your AC unit as the condensation trickles down into the drain pan. However, it isn’t normal for your AC to sound like it’s running water or have large puddles around it. If that happens, you can try the solutions listed above or call an AC repair pro.
