"Excellent work! This family-owned company did a beautiful job xeriscaping my large front yard. They pruned trees and bushes as well as laying mulch, stones and gravel. I have happily recommended this company to friends and family."

"I have hired JP and his crew several times. Whenever I call JP he always comes to give me an estimate the same day and able to complete the job quickly. He and his crew know what they are doing. They are fast, work hard, they are all about safety, and always clean up when they were done. They have all the equipment to get the job done. I got our HOA to hire JP as our neighborhood’s dedicated tree vendor. He’s our guy for everything related to trees."

"James and his crew were extremely friendly and professional! He cares about people and the way he conducts himself and his business reflects that! He was very fair on price and his crew worked extremely efficiently! I would reccomend him and 100% use him again! James is also an arborist and he gave me some pointers on other trees on the property!"

"Working with Tony was an outstanding experience. He assessed the job of removing five trees and associated stump grinding to support our upcoming solar installation. His quote was lower than other arborists and his ability to execute on the job two days later was exactly what I was looking for. He and his crew arrived on time and completed all activities in one day. The work area was totally devoid of debris, actually cleaner than when they arrived. I would definitely recommend Amegos Tree Services for your arborist needs. Great local service provider, great pricing, great service, great outcome."

"We had a great experience with our Oasis. I didn’t really know where to start with the yard, but he was incredibly helpful in coming up with a plan that made everything feel manageable and looked great. He really listened to my feedback and was happy to adjust things along the way, which I appreciated. He was also very fair with pricing, very responsive whenever I had questions, and able to come out quickly to get the work started. The whole process felt easy and straightforward thanks to his communication and professionalism. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for reliable and thoughtful landscaping work."

"They arrived early and began trimming the trees right at the start time. Luis the crew leader was friendly. The guys did a great job on the trimming and cleaned up very well. Got the work done without using the extra hour that Traci budgeted. Very happy customer"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Since summer is a busy time for tree companies, the cheapest time of year to remove a tree is during the winter. February and March are typically the prime time to hire a tree removal pro, and some homeowners living in colder climates can save around 20% off services. It depends on location and the company, but you can always shop around for the best deal.

In nature, there are many things that can cause a tree to die, including diseases, insects, and natural disasters such as fires or droughts. Non-natural methods of killing a tree include herbicides or manual intervention, such as cutting it down. Consult a tree removal professional about your options for naturally killing a tree.

Ideally, you should wait to prune until trees have gone dormant in late fall to early winter. The worst times to prune trees are early fall and late summer, as pruning them so close to dormancy makes it difficult for the tree recover before it goes dormant for the season.

Hiring an arborist costs around $900 on average, with prices ranging from $250 to $2,500 or more. Some arborists charge an hourly rate, typically between $100 and $350 per hour. The final cost depends on several factors, including the type of work, the number of trees, accessibility, and whether you hire an independent arborist or a larger tree service company. When hiring, you should also consider their experience and insurance coverage.

Below are some estimated costs for common arborist jobs:

  • Small tree removal: $300 to $500

  • Large tree removal: $500 to $2,000 or more

  • Tree health assessment: $150

  • Trimming a small tree: $75 to $200

  • Trimming a large tree: $150 to $400

  • Dealing with invasive species: $150 to $1,000 or more

Late August, September, and mid-October are the ideal months for planting a young tree. However, the best time to plant a tree ultimately depends on when the weather transitions to fall-like conditions and eventually winter frost. As long as the hottest days of summer have passed and the ground hasn’t frozen yet, you can still successfully plant trees.
