"Used to remove and replace a tile backsplash in the kitchen. Everyone from Talamantez was very professional and their communication was outstanding. Estimates for material were spot on and they were extremely helpful with suggestions to make the project perfect. Workers showed up on time and cleaned up when they were done. Ana Marie answered my calls/emails/texts promptly every time! Would absolutely use again."

"Got a much needed upgrade to my kitchen backsplash. Joseluis came in and assessed the job and made recommendations on how the backsplash could be done and how a portion of the granite could be removed to show more of the backsplash for a better look. He was right. Great crew! Finished the work timely and followed up to make sure everything was to my liking. I appreciate that my phone calls were always returned promptly and any questions I had were addressed right away. Would hire again and recommend them to anyone needing a backsplash."

Customers say: Terrific value

"Highly recommend Mat and his crew. They remodeled my bathroom and 2 closets. They always showed up on time, prices were fair, they are honest and trustworthy and do high quality work. I am very particular and want things done right. Mat is very hard working and attentive to every detail. He took time to make sure everything was done properly and that I was happy throughout the entire re-model. Plan on using him on future projects."

"PERFECT, ABSOLUTELY BEYOND PERFECT. I could not have had a better experience. They tiled a back bedroom I have and did such an OUTSTANDING job that I hired them to do a bathroom remodel. That remodel was quite involved as my design was quite unique. The job came out better than I had envisioned. Do yourself a favor and hire them for any job you might have. I assure you they will be punctual, respectful, hard working and very detailed oriented."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Ideally, you should remove tile before installing hardwood floors, but there are good reasons not to. Removing stubborn tile can be a labor-intensive job that adds days to the project. The subfloor beneath the tiles could also be damaged during the process, meaning you’d have to repair the subfloor before installing the new hardwood floor.

Yes, it’s always a good idea to keep a box or two of spare tiles after a home renovation project. Tiles can crack from improper installation, heavy foot traffic, and impact from drops. Having some extra tile on hand can make replacement fast, easy, and affordable. Plus, some manufacturers might discontinue particular colors or styles, and slight variations in tile colors between batches could mean mismatched tiles even if your product isn’t discontinued. Having a few spare tiles in storage can help avoid these issues, as well.

Mortar and thinset both serve the same purpose—tile adhesion—but have different compositions and use-cases. Thinset is heatproof and presents a wide range of possibilities due to the added polymers. Mortar is typically used for bonding stones and brick. Thinset is rarely used outside, while mortar is rarely used inside.

Yes, you can install a backsplash directly onto drywall, provided the wall is properly prepped, clean, and dry. For best results, especially in kitchen areas, your walls should be made of moisture-resistant drywall, often called green board. If your current wall isn't moisture-resistant, it's recommended to replace it before installing the backsplash. For even greater protection against water damage, you can remove the existing drywall and install a tile backer board or cement board instead. While properly installed standard drywall is typically strong enough to support a backsplash, some local building codes may require water-resistant materials in kitchen areas, so it's a good idea to check.

Natural stone floors, especially pebble-style tiling, are one of the least slippery options for a shower floor. Natural stone has a texture to reduce slickness, and pebble-shaped tiles add more visual and textural contrast while reducing slippage. Vinyl tiles are also designed with anti-slip texture for added safety. If you have a slippery tile, be sure to add a grippy shower mat to reduce the risk of falls.
