"W3 Electric is truly the GREATEST in the game! Not only was Bill Witty respectful and helpful but also worked so hard to accomplish everything I wanted by adding switches and light fixtures in my new home. "I have zero complaints about this company. They came out very quickly to access my issue. It was urgent. From Oncor and this company, I clearly escaped what could have been a major fire. These guys were so professional and kept me in the loop of everything being done. I've saved their number for any future issues and I will definitely recommend them to anyone needing a skilled electrician. It was worth every penny to have it done professionally and safely. Thank you ALL."

"JRC responded quickly to my request for electric recliner chair repair. This was a big deal for me, but a minor deal to an electric repair company. JRC treated as a major deal and was out next day. The electrician repaired my recliner quickly and I was back in my lazy chair. I will call them the next time I have an electrical issue, large or small."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

A water heater is one of the heaviest hitters in your home, and it needs as much power as possible to help it run efficiently and effectively.

Your water heater should be on its own dedicated circuit breaker, with no other power sources running to it. This is required to meet the National Electric Code–and to ensure it runs as efficiently as possible.

Yes, you can convert a gas water heater to an electric one, but it is a complex process. You will need to ensure there is adequate power for the new electric unit, as they require more power than gas models. The project also involves safely closing off the gas lines and ventilation, and some cities may require a permit for the conversion. The cost can range from $1,500 to $4,100, depending on the installation scope, plumbing and electrical work, and the water heater model. For an accurate quote, it's best to contact a local professional. Also, be aware that your monthly utility bills may increase after the conversion, as natural gas is typically cheaper than electricity.

Using too many Christmas lights can cause your circuit board to overload which can put your tree at risk of catching fire and potentially damage your home’s electrical grid.

A 10,000-watt generator can run a small to mid-sized central AC unit (typically up to 3 tons or 36,000 BTU) along with a few other appliances. However, larger AC units or additional loads will require a bigger generator. Consult a local generator installer to ensure you add the correct size generator to your home.

You can install a three-prong outlet without connecting any ground and plug in three-prong electronics into that outlet. The devices will function normally, but you won’t get any of the protection that grounding provides, so there’s an increased risk of serious problems if something goes wrong.
