"I needed to see a ceiling fan installed and the floor to ceiling height was 19.5 feet. Kyle is just awesome. He's very thorough and does what he says he will do. He is VERY straightforward. He helps keep the work area clean. He has no problem with DIY. Old man, asking a bunch of questions. He listened, and has no issue with explaining anything. If there's an adjustment to be made, he will make it right. He's more than happy to come back out at no additional cost .Nice that no additional call, and adjust things as needed. You can't go wrong with Jade electric. THEY ARE my electric repair go to."

"This was my first experience with an electrician. I will say that the others that called wanted a service fee for coming. One would absorb the fee if I had the work done and the other would not. Mr. Electric did not have a service fee, but was, in my opinion, way too expensive for the work I needed done. My husband was very put out because he kept telling me he could do it himself. I insisted on a professional because it was electrical. So, Mr. Electric did the job and the light in my kitchen is working perfectly, but I cannot help but feel like I was had. Not so sure that I would use again."

"Casey from Powertex did a great job. He installed recess lighting, a ceiling fan and dimmers. He also fixed a electrical switch. He took great care to protect my space while he worked. I will use Powertex for all my electrical needs."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Schedule electrical work in The Colony if you experience power loss in key rooms, notice storm-related damage, or have GFCI outlets that fail to reset. Plan upgrades before summer heat or during home renovations for convenience. Spring and fall are ideal for larger projects, while emergency electrical services are available year-round. Book early during peak seasons to ensure timely service.

Helpful?

Frequent breaker trips, dimming lights when appliances start, or a burning odor from outlets in The Colony can signal developing electrical hazards. Warm outlet covers, mild shocks, or GFCI outlets that won’t reset should be addressed quickly. Outdoor rust or buzzing from electrical panels—especially after storms—may indicate moisture intrusion and the need for a professional electrical inspection.

Helpful?

In The Colony, missing GFCI outlets in wet areas, scorch marks on outlets, or loose wall switches are warning signs. Persistent flickering lights or reliance on extension cords for permanent power point to deeper issues. Check that inspection records match visible work, and have older homes with aluminum wiring connections evaluated to ensure they meet current electrical safety standards.

Helpful?

In The Colony, you can safely reset tripped GFCI outlets, replace standard light bulbs, and test smoke detectors. Always turn off the breaker and confirm power is off with a voltage tester before touching anything. Avoid electrical work during wet conditions, especially after North Texas storms. If you notice unusual wiring or persistent issues, contact a licensed electrician for home electrical safety.

Helpful?

For a seamless electrical project in The Colony, start by securing the appropriate permits and allowing time for approval. Review your HOA’s exterior work guidelines and coordinate with your utility provider if power shutoff is needed. Schedule inspections at key milestones and plan work during milder weather to avoid summer heat. Confirm your contractor’s availability and keep all documentation for future electrical inspections.
