"I had puddles of standing water under my house for a year. The plumber found no leaks and said it would evaporate in the summer. Well it didn't and I called Crawlspace Doctor of Huntsville, Alabama. Sawyer Williams was great at explaining the issue and the costs, and it was a no pressure visit. He explained to me the four causes of water in a crawlspace and suggested the best way to SOLVE the problem, not put a band aid on it. They have just finished a full encapsulation, sump pump, and dehumidifier with a digital thermostat I can monitor from in my home. "Had a late service call ($225) and worker inspected system—no air coming from vents. He came inside saw no air forced air and went outside and into the attic. First said, "No problems," next, "Needs a new fan motor," next I suggested he check the fan capacitor--he confirmed a low amperage, and replace the $15-30 part. Total cost: $325. 13 days later, same problem. Asked for a refund of just the service call because we weren't satisfied and didn't trust them to fix it. Manger declined, "Saying during 14 days anything could happen. Another, less expensive company diagnosed and replaced the defective blower for less than the Durham Service Company's work."

The lower 30/50 pressure is usually enough for a single-story home, but you may want 40/60 if you have multiple stories, as the extra pressure helps water flow smoothly up to the second floor.

Signs that your well is dry include a decrease in water pressure, strange odors coming from faucets, cloudy, bubbly, or discolored water, and water that’s warmer than normal. Signs that your well pump is bad are similar, but you may also notice higher-than-average electric bills, strange clicking sounds, and faucets that spit or sputter.

A larger well pressure tank won’t improve water pressure on its own. However, bigger tanks don’t have to cycle as often as smaller ones, which reduces the amount of stress on your well system. As a result, a bigger tank can last longer and might experience fewer well pump issues that could impact your water pressure.
