"We'll see if it makes a noticeable difference in our well-being, but our peace of mind has definitely been improved by the vent cleaning. Highly recommend Air Specialties for the job. They showed up on time, worked their a**** off, got up into the attic and cleaned the actual trunk lines, took a lot of videos and pictures to show their results, and eliminated a lot of mold and dirt residue. Very professional, friendly, and they only do one job per day to make sure they take as long as it needs to do a thorough job."

"Absolutely impressed with the service! The heat and air specialist was on time, super knowledgeable, and incredibly efficient. They quickly diagnosed the issue with my HVAC system and explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. The repair was done perfectly, and my system has been running smoothly ever since. Plus, their rates were very fair. Highly recommend them for anyone in need of a reliable and skilled specialist!"

"We had gone without AC for two weeks because of other hvac companies would not come out or return my calls. Mr. Koontz came out the next morning, he evaluated my need and gave me a recommendation, followed by a quote the next morning. The next day as promised he showed up and work late that day to make sure I had AC that night then came out the next morning to finish up the heating part, which I still havenâ t used yet. I highly recommend Koontz, fast, friendly and affordable quality work."

"Everything went extremely well! The representative, Mr. Keith Hall, was excellent. He made my family and I feel very comfortable during this transition to Knoxville. I not only recommend Mr. Handyman of West Knoxville, but him as well. Absolutely loved the results as well."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

There are a few ways to determine if a vent is open or closed. You can inspect the vent and examine the position of the fins. If there are spaces between them, the vent is open. If the fins are flat and touching, the vent is closed. You can also stand under the vent when the system is running to see if you feel air flowing through it.

You may never need an AC recharge if there are no leaks. However, if your AC unit has a leak that cannot be patched appropriately, you’ll need an AC recharge every time the freon level drops low enough that it disrupts your system—this could be once every two to three years. It all depends on the size and frequency of the leak.

There are a few reasons your AC is running but not cooling your room. Thermostat issues and dust and debris, which can clog your system, are common problems. It could also be a broken component, such as a compressor, blower fan, or evaporator coils. You’ll need to call a pro to diagnose the issue.

Yes, adding central air can increase your home value by as much as 10%. Generally speaking, prospective buyers prefer a central AC system over a ductless system or room-by-room AC units. That’s because central air conditioning blends into the home easier than individual room air conditioners and typically has less equipment to maintain.

Yes, a mini split AC system can replace central air—and quite easily, too. Since mini splits don’t require ductwork, homeowners can convert their central air system to a mini split to save money and energy. Consult with an HVAC professional to learn more about the process of replacing your central air with a mini split.
