Multiple earner of the Angie's List Super Service Award, most recently 2018. We are a family based business that takes the time to make your project turn out the way you want. We do our best to meet your budget without sacrificing quality. We offer a variety of finish options, from oil based or water based polyurethanes to hard wax oil finishes like Rubio Monocoat. We use state of the art vacuum equipment with HEPA grade filters to minimize any dust in your home. There is the rare occasion where there will be more dust than normal, such as if we need to cut out sections of flooring to replace bad boards, but under most circumstances, you will be pleasantly surprised at how little dust there will be!

"He exceeded my expectations! Very professional! On time , curteouus and had an attention to detail that is truly exceptional! He came in and fixed a difficult Rubio issue and brought our floors back to what they should have been! Truly amazing!!! I would recommend Him without reservation! Hands down THE BEST in the business! I considered him to be the Expert in hardwood floors! Without question the best I’ve ever experienced! Highly recommend him!"

"Unfortunately, we had a disappointing process with R and S Flooring. Our house had wood flooring downstairs except for the bedrooms where there was carpet. We wanted to replace the carpet with the quality of wood flooring that matched as closely as possible our existing wood flooring. We had received two bid offers from them, one each for two different quality levels of flooring. We chose the bid for the higher quality of wood to better match the existing wood flooring. The project manager, who came to our house before the installation, agreed that the higher quality wood was appropriate. Unfortunately, after installed, it was quite apparent that the new flooring was a lesser quality wood than the existing flooring. Eventually, after a lot of back and forth via the office manager and project manager, R and S Flooring agreed that the two bids had gotten intertwined and that they had made the mistake; the lesser quality wood was installed but with the higher quality wood pricing. This was a mistake that none of us caught until after it was installed. Ultimately, R and S refused to do anything but offer a reduction in the bid price to reflect the cost of poorer quality actual floor they installed. Of course, we are left with two different quality floors to look at each day and a problem that still needs to be corrected. Especially disappointing: 1. Despite repeated requests, no owner/decision-maker from R and S would even come see our floors, talk with us, and see why we were not satisfied. We were only allowed to work via the project manager, who came several times and readily agreed there was a problem and that the mistake was made by R and S, but he stated he had no ability to make any corrective decisions. 2. We offered to accept two rooms as is and asked that only the two other rooms be redone. We even offered to pay more money for this effort so each of us would share the cost/responsibility of this mistake. This offer was rejected out of hand; no discussions ever took place. 3. R and S Flooring owners do not take responsibility for their work. The work crews, staining, finish-up were fine; our issue is that the wrong floor was installed. R and S Flooring only wants to reduce the original contract price as compensation while leaving us with their new floor installation that we will still need to replace, one way or another."

"I hired R3 to find a leak in my son’s room that was causing mold and also damaging his ceiling. I also hired them to find a leak in my daughter’s ceiling. They said they found the reason for the leaks and quoted me a price. In this estimate, it stated different tradesmen would be performing the work (painter, HVAC person etc) and I was charged those minimums for those tradesmen. The project manager did most of the work himself. They did have painters come in though. The estimate was itemized and I noticed they were charging me for things that they were not doing (like closing off the room for cleaning mold, applying anti-mold spray, etc). I asked the project manager if he was planning on going over the estimate with me and amending the quote. He looked at me like I was nuts. He seemed very eager to hurry up and finish my job. There were several things that needed to be done, and I got the impression that he wanted to finish it all in a couple of hours. Once I brought up going over the estimate, then he seemed to go slower and make sure he was doing everything, since I was paying attention. He seemed to not understand why I wanted to go over the estimate. I questioned him on several things and he ended up taking off $1,000 because he couldn’t prove he did it. $1,000!! If I wasn’t paying attention, this company would’ve taken my money for work they never performed. There were probably things I missed, but I couldn’t catch everything. When they originally came to fix things, they replaced 2 air vents running from my bathrooms to the outside of my house. A couple of weeks after they completed their work, a leak started in my son’s room. They claimed the vent they just replaced is now causing the leak because the air vent isn’t powerful enough to push the condensation out. They said they would repair it for free, since they did the work. I asked them about repairing the other one, since they just replaced that one and they refused. They said that vent hasn’t caused an issue yet and since they have discovered that it might cause an issue and have brought it to my attention, it would cost for them to replace it. At first, I said no because I just paid for them to install new vents and I felt like they should replace that one as well. Then I decided to go ahead and pay to have that one fixed. I contacted the project manager SEVERAL times to try to get him to fix the vents and my son’s ceiling. He would say he was coming and then never show. He’d never contact me and say he wasn’t coming—he just wouldn’t show. Then he asked to send someone on a Saturday when I had a commitment and I told him no, since a babysitter was at my house. He sent a worker anyway and the worker didn’t even know what he was supposed to be doing. The babysitter sent him away and I had to try to contact the project manager about coming again. He finally had someone come out and they only fixed 1 vent. I asked them about it and I was told that with the winter storm, they had enough business for now, and they were “opting out” of fixing my vent. I was very upset and told them that they had done work that will knowingly cause future problems and they should fix it—I was even paying for it. The estimator was rude and not interested in having someone come out to fix it. I asked for the owner’s contact information several times, so I could discuss the problem with him/her and the estimator refused to give it to me. DON’T use this company. They will try to steal your money, not perform all the work, or stand by all the work they perform."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

While it’s possible to install carpet yourself, it’s best to hire a local carpet installer to ensure it’s done correctly and safely. Before installing carpet yourself, check whether the manufacturer’s warranty will remain intact. Many manufacturer’s warranties won’t cover the cost of materials under the warranty if it wasn’t installed by a pro. In addition, you should only install carpet yourself if you’re familiar with the tools required and if the installation is straightforward, not involving things such as floor vents or stairs.

In most cases, laminate flooring is better for people with dust or other allergies as laminate is easier to clean. Carpet can trap pollen and other allergens, allowing them to be kicked up into the air again with foot traffic. Consult your flooring specialist about the best types of carpet or laminate flooring to use based on your household member’s needs.

Yes, you can negotiate the purchase price of new carpet. You may also be able to negotiate installation costs or other fees in addition to the per-foot pricing of the carpet itself. You may have better luck negotiating with an independent retailer (as opposed to a big-box store), as they may have more discretion in pricing, but it’s always worth asking.

Many DIYers and pros start installing flooring in the middle of a room to ensure a balanced, symmetrical layout, especially when using tiles or planks. This process is particularly helpful in odd-shaped rooms because it allows you to create a centerline from which to work. Beginning in the center will enable you to work toward the edges so the final layout feels intentional and centered, even if the walls aren’t perfectly square.

Since carpet can be expensive to install and choosing a new carpet can seem daunting, it’s important to know when to repair your existing carpet versus replacing it.

If the damage to your carpet Is extensive, such as large sections needing to be replaced, it might be best to replace it. Likewise, if your carpet damage is due to water damage, it might be best to replace the entire carpet to avoid mold problems. Consider repairing your carpet when the damage is localized to one spot or when the damaged carpet is in a low-traffic area of your home.
