"I live in Florida, lightning capitol, so I felt having lightning rods installed would be great protection for my house. I would recommend this company if you want to protect your house. They were very professional and efficient. Because of many different roof lines on my house, they needed to install 7 rods. They arrived at noon and finished in a couple of hours. I am very happy with their work, and feel much safer."

"Exceptional Electrical Services by E-Z Electric! If you're in search of a reliable electrician, look no further than E-Z Electric. I recently relocated my business and urgently required an electrician. After receiving quotes from multiple companies, I was amazed by the difference in service when I met with E-Z Electric. They promptly provided me with a quote, and scheduled the work for the very next day. Their troubleshooting took one-third of the time of other estimates, and their quote was $2500 less than the lowest bid we received from other companies. Despite the number of issues we had with the wiring, E-Z Electric identified and resolved them all within the same day. Not only that, but they completed the work under the quoted cost! Their honesty and expertise make them an exceptional contractor - I highly recommend them! If you need electrical services, E-Z Electric is the way to go."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

A C-wire connects your thermostat to your household heating and cooling system to provide continuous 24V power. The furnace's transformer converts household electrical current into this low-voltage power to operate the HVAC system's circuitry. In most configurations, the C-wire connects to the terminals labeled "C" on both the furnace's low-voltage terminal block and the thermostat. In some cases, if a dedicated C terminal is unavailable, the C-wire can be connected to the "G" (fan) terminal at the furnace.

It's recommended that you only use your circuit breaker for your water heater. Tacking on additional appliances, especially large ones like refrigerators, can overload the circuit and lead to electrical fires. Therefore, it's best to have separate circuits for each major appliance, particularly continuous load appliances, which use a lot of energy over prolonged periods of time.

There are a few ways to reduce your electricity bills if you use window AC units to keep cool. Set the unit temperature at least 1 degree higher than it is currently to reduce costs. Keep the unit clean for it to run efficiently. You may want to hire a window AC specialist near you to inspect the unit once a year and keep it in tip-top shape.

Amps describe the amount of energy that can flow through a circuit breaker. Every electrical device that’s attached to the breaker requires about 1.5 amps. While that equates to roughly 13 receptacles per 20 amps, using slightly fewer ensures that your circuit will always have enough energy for sudden power surges instead of tripping when one occurs. In general, 10 to 12 receptacles is recommended for a 20 amp circuit.

There is no blanket figure for a residential home’s electrical load, since load varies by the size of the home, how many appliances are used, and the efficiency of their electrical systems. Typically, however, it’s safe to assume 40 to 60 amps is the average electrical load of a residential home.
