Small jobs welcome

"I had an outstanding experience with The Hot Water People! They came out to fix my stand-up shower, and I couldn't have ask for better service. They were prompt, professional, and clearly knew exactly what they were doing. The shower is working perfectly now, and they even took time to explain what went wrong and how they fixed it. Five stars all the way! Highly recommend them if you shower or water heater work done! A special shout-out to Josh, who was friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure everything was just right. Thanks Josh!"

"Bought an old house, fireplace not functional. This company came, did an assessment, and I had a woodstove put in. They did an excellent job dealing the chimney, capping etc. Fair price, no games, came when they said they would. Work untouched by the wind storm and constant rain. Just hire these people, and don't bother shopping around."

"Hired to run gas line for new dual fuel range. Scott and Thomas were very informative and coordinated their efforts with MLGW and the inspector. They always answered their phone and/or returned calls promptly (even after hours). Project took a little longer than initially thought, but delays were unavoidable. Was very pleased with service provided."

"We could not get our gas log fireplace to stay on. Germantown Fireplace came when they said they would and quickly assessed the problem...(it was just dirty) and said that's usually what causes our problem. He moved very fast which was good, but was not terribly friendly and was eager to move on to the next call. We appreciated the quick response and reasonable price. Interactive manner could have been better on the part of the serviceman."

"used $49 coupon and found out water heater needed some parts. I feel the parts and labor were high.  Work was done while my wife was at home and she didn't know much about what they were recommending. They did explain by phone to me before hand. Also, I got no detailed report on the multi part inspection that supposedly came with my heater flush. My receipt simply said "repair heater" next to the $340 charge.  I definitely wouldn't use again.

Gas Logs questions, answered by experts

The most significant benefit of having a gas grill over a propane grill is that you never run out of fuel unless there’s an outage in your area, which is rare. Unlike with a propane grill, you’ll never need to haul tanks back and forth to a local fill station, and you’ll never find yourself unable to use your grill because you forgot to refill your tanks. Gas grills also burn slightly cleaner than propane grills, and natural gas costs significantly less than propane, meaning it’s more affordable to run your grill.

Yes, most states require a plumber to be licensed, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed plumber could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations. Check our state licensing tool to review the local plumber guidelines.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification, which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

No. Placing a built-in grill against the house is discouraged due to safety concerns. Building codes and regulations often require a minimum distance (typically 10 feet or more) between a gas grill and any combustible structure, including a house. Placing a grill too close poses a fire hazard and risks damage to the siding or structure, potentially leading to carbon monoxide buildup. It's essential to consult local building codes, follow manufacturer guidelines, and prioritize safety by positioning the grill at a safe distance, ideally in a well-ventilated outdoor kitchen or designated grill area.

Local codes often mandate specific fittings, permits, and vent considerations for permitted function and safety, which are enforced by professionals.

Appliances typically connected to a gas line include gas stoves, water heaters, furnaces, and gas fireplaces. Essentially, any appliance in your home that uses gas needs to be connected to a gas line, which connects your home with the main gas line owned and operated by your gas company.
