"Before contract signed Chris agreed to leave a 3 ft perimeter around the build site for drainage, and to move the excavated dirt to specified area. He did neither of these things which caused erosion and cave-in. He compromised our cement driveway by digging under it. He refused to listen to anything I told him I wanted done. He had children onsite (11 yrs old), one of his employees came to work intoxicated, with sandals on and smoked weed onsite. We have pictures. Constantly asking for money. He left his "crew" to finish as soon as we paid final payment. The crew cut the relief joint before the concrete was dry so it has chipped and concrete truck cracked our driveway in multiple places. Chris was supposed to be guiding him. A reputable concrete company inspected the job today, giving us an estimate of $16,500 to fix everything that Chris did wrong, starting with busting out the concrete and starting over. Chris was very arrogant and just would not listen to us and did it his way."

Yes, it’s possible to seal your driveway too much. Whether you have an asphalt or concrete driveway, sealing it every year opens your driveway to potential damage. Avoid sealing your concrete driveway too much to prevent the concrete from cracking. If water enters these cracks, it can freeze, expand, and cause the cracks to worsen.

Asphalt driveway sealer lasts approximately one to three years. Although the industry standard is to add fresh sealant every two years, this ultimately depends on where you live. Your driveway is subjected to elements like harsh sunlight, freezing temperatures, precipitation, and extra wear and tear that comes from foot traffic and heavy cars. If you start noticing small cracks or uneven drying on your driveway, it’s a sign that your previous seal coat has run its course and your driveway needs a new one.

Asphalt driveways last anywhere from 15 to 30 years, but if you don’t stay on top of repairs, you may find yourself spending extra to replace your driveway before its typical lifespan. Oil can permanently stain a concrete driveway if it fully dries or sits for weeks without cleaning. Concrete is porous and absorbs the oil deeper over time. That’s why it’s best to remove an oil stain when it’s wet by applying an absorbent material, sweeping the area, applying dish soap, scrubbing, and then rinsing.
