"Salesman Bob Wood was wonderfully helpful - no upselling, no pressure, provided multiple options for everything. The install was able to take place very quickly - Pedro D., Joel T., and Alex did the install in a single day as promised. They were professional, friendly, very respectful of my home and even patched up the surrounding tile from the main bathroom. The new shower is beautiful - very happy I decided to move ahead. Financing was easy as well. I would (and have!) recommended them to family and friends - will use them again for any future projects."

"

I so wanted to give Brooks Flooring an A+, for what appeared to be an excellent job.  Jim Harrison gave me a great deal and helped me save money by finding me a high quality, beautiful looking carpet at a discount price.  My old carpeting looked atrocious, so anything new would look ten times better.

Unfortunately, they only get an A- at best.  Although the job looked perfect, I found a couple of annoying problems the next day.  They still get an A, but instead of saying "they are the best", I must say "they could do better."

I used Brooks Flooring previously to do my kitchen and they did an excellent job.  So when I decided to carpet my living room, dining room, den, hall-way and two bedrooms, I knew I was going for broke.

The carpet I chose had a soft comfortable feel, perfect for walking barefoot; that is, until I stepped barefoot on a carpet tack going into the bathroom.  So this morning I carefully examined the threshold where the carpeting ended in my bedroom and the ceramic tile of the bathroom floor began.  To my disappointment there were several spots where the sharp carpet tacks that hold down the carpet edge stuck up just high enough I could feel them walking barefoot.  The problem was simple to solve.  I got a hammer and hammered the metal points completely flat.  But I wondered why they didn't do that themselves.  Then I stepped on a loose sharp carpet tack lying on the carpet, lying like a needle in a haystack.  I'll be the first to admit nobody is perfect, but that d*** loose tack hurt.  Carpet tacks are like office staples on steroids.  Later I found and threw away another carpet tack lying nearby, and found a third in the bathroom.  If glue is inadequate for holding down carpeting in such critical areas, they need  to make sure there are no protruding tacks or loose ones lying around.

This, of course, takes time; and time is money.  The three workers worked very hard at a very fast pace.  I couldn't believe how fast they were moving furniture, tearing out old carpet and padding, and putting in new carpeting and padding.  I was amazed they finished the whole job and placed back the furniture in less than half a day.  However the next day, I noticed the TV in the den wasn't hooked up right.  To their credit they tested it and saw it wasn't working.  We then made sure the TV in the bedroom was hooked up correctly.  I had unplugged the various cables and wires, and marked with tape which ones went where.  I assumed (incorrectly) that if one TV worked, the other would work.  I only hope I will be able to figure out how to get the other to work.

It was simpler to reconnect the land-line phones, but I had to do this myself.  This required moving furniture that blocked the outlets.  I would have preferred they connected the phones they unconnected, so I didn't have to go to this trouble.

All in all, Brooks Flooring did a good job.  Yet they were in such a hurry to complete the huge job in record time, they ignored important details at the end.

"I was very much impressed with the installers and their work. They left the place cleaner when the left than when they found it. They also put in a patio cover for me and they did great on that also!"

Small jobs welcome

"Jimmy at The Grout Medic was prompt and Professional. He was able to do all of the items on my list, from cleaning and restoring grout, replacing a shower floor, regrouting a bathroom and replacing tile in another. He communicated well throughout the job and kept to the proposed cost. I would definitely hire this company and specifically Jimmy Green again."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Different types of tile cutters may work best depending on the type of tile you are cutting and the size of your project. There are two main types of tile cutters: manual and electric. Manual tile cutters are quick and easy to use for small projects and softer tile materials, but they can only make straight cuts. Electric tile cutters make light work of big projects and can cut through harder materials.

Glass tile is one of the easiest materials to maintain. It is both stain and water-resistant, making it easy to clean and incredibly durable. This also makes it resistant to mold and mildew. However, make sure it’s kept clean, otherwise, your grout might start to degrade. Glass is liable to scratch, so ensure you’re using non-abrasive materials and products, like soft sponges and wipes.

Solvents dissolve tile adhesive, but the right solvent for the job depends on what type of adhesive you are trying to remove. For instance, dispersion adhesive requires stronger removers, like bile soap or even paint stripper, but some adhesives, like cement-based products, can come off with water and soap or mortar remover.

Tile floor installation usually takes about 16 hours of active work along with a couple of days of drying time between tile and grout applications.

The amount of time it takes your installer will depend on many factors, including the square footage of the space, the tile material type, and if they need to make intricate tile cuts.

When considering the types of grout for your project, unsanded grout is the best choice for penny tile. Unsanded grout can fit better into narrow spaces, like those between the small penny tiles, and it’s easier to smooth out for a seamless finish. However, if you’re unsure, check with a tile installation pro to determine which grout is best for your specific project.
