"The fireplace in my new house had not been used in 15 years, so I was afraid to use it until it had been inspected. My tech, JD, was punctual, polite and did a very thorough job. He was a true gentleman. I would definitely use Ashbusters again and recommend them highly."

"We have a FP chimney that need mortaring some small holes and spaces between bricks. He installed a damper, adjusted the chimney top covering, and checked the interior mortar. He told us we didn't need to fill the holes, as heat would not hurt it. Wonderful man."

"The only reason I did not use him is that I had some structural things going on as well and had to find a handyman that could fix that first! We plan on using him again in the future. My friend referred us and she had 3 roofs done by him and they all look great.

"The vendor was on time, opened and dismantled the fireplace to allow for proper cleaning. used a drop cloth to protect our hardwood floor and keep the area clean.
Following the inspection of the fireplace,in the course of the review we discovered a valve that could be replaced to provide for a more efficient start-up of the fireplace. It was not a mandatory fix and we were given the option of making the decision. No high pressure  sales pitch. We decided to replace the valve given the improved instant start to the fireplace.  Great job we would hire them again and recommend them unconditionally.

"My first communication with Mike was at the end of June. In mid-July, I still hadn't gotten an estimate. It occurred to me that noone had asked me about what pattern flooring I wanted so I called Mike.  He said "You just need to go to Lumber Liquidators website and choose one." I did not know this was the process.    Having no idea what to look for in flooring as far as quality or budget constraints I  chose a (thankfully) great bamboo product.  The work was supposed to start in August but the flooring I chose was not in stock so I had to pay for additional shipping costs and then it was on backorder.   Then when the day came to start the project, September 15, the flooring  hadnt been picked up! and so another few days went by while it acclimated.  After the majority of the flooring was installed it was weeks later that the nosing for  the stairs arrived.  Apparently it wasnt ordered at the time the flooring was.
I had to rent a POD for my furniture during the flooring installation and it stayed in my driveway for weeks after the job was over.
I was told that tile was the way to go in the bathroom and I needed to go to Lowes and pick it out.  I did that but when it was time to start the tile job Logan had not picked it up so I had to start all over again choosing tile.  It was assumed I would know that I knew I had to pick out the grout as well as the tub, faucet, sink, countertop, etc.  I had no idea how to do this without measurements and guidance on what would work and how to stay in budget.
I havent dealt with contractors often but I have had flooring installed on two prior occasions.  both times I chose the product I wanted, it was ordered , and placed in my home for acclimation. Then the work began.   I guess I thought someone would walk through this with me since the quote was based on price allowances and measurements on each item in the bid. I ended up buying my own sink, faucet, and shower head after being  so frustrated with them.
The project manager (Logan) is very enthusiastic and positive when you meet him . He told me he was hands on but was actually nowhere to be found on the job during installation.  communicating with him was difficult.  He didn't respond to texts.  I had to forward them to Mike and when he responded I felt like somehow I was to blame for not understanding how things work.  I was told that they do this work every day and customers know to pick out what they want.  I'm not sure about that.
  1. The two guys who did the actual work (Auty and Johnny) are knowledgeable and talented carpenters and if not for them and the fact that they intervened for me several times, i'm not sure when the jobs would have been completed.
  2. While I wish them every success, I cannot write anything other than  my truth here.  I believe the business needs better administration and communication with customers in order to last for the long term.  I think a sit-down meeting at the outset to review product choices and price point would be valuable.  And, a project manager who is on site.

"They did a great job. They solved all the problems I had with the chimney and it’s been working perfectly ever since. They also fixed a problem on the roof around the chimney; they replaced the wood around the chimney with a material that would never rot, so they fixed it even better than it was before. It took them a couple of days to do the work. They took care of all the cleanup as well. We've been real happy with them."

"McKeever and partner arrived on time and cheerful. He inspected the fireplace, gave an estimate and offered suggestions. He used the proper materials for the job and went the extra mile by including pointing? to some areas not including in quote. They left the job site tidy and secure. I also felt comfortable with the cost. I am a Realtor and had been looking for a "licensed" masonry contractor I could trust and depend on for client needs. Now I have one."

"Pleasant experience.  I have used this contractor for previous jobs (remodel the entire inside of my home, repaired my driveway, install hardwood floors and converted my fireplace from the old conventional fireplace to an insert.
Always punctual, professional.  He provided good estimates; I never had any cost overrun surprises.
They will always be my first contractor of choice for ANY work that I need in the future.  Brothers Contractor personnel are the only service persons that I felt comfortable leaving in my home when I had errands to run."

Chimney Liner Installation questions, answered by experts

Pool leaks most commonly occur at joints or where different materials meet. The most frequent leak spots include:

  • The Pool Skimmer: Where the plastic skimmer meets the pool's liner or shell.

  • The Pool Liner: Tears can develop in vinyl liners, especially those between 5 and 20 years old. Leaks also occur around the liner's edge.

  • Fittings and Accessories: Areas around return lines, the main drain, and pool lights are common culprits.

  • Pool Equipment: The pump, filter, and filter housing can also leak.

While leaks in underground pipes are less common, they can be costly to fix. It's usually best to check the more common spots before investigating the plumbing system.

Clean regularly, balance water chemistry, and inspect for tears or wrinkles in the liner.

How long a pool liner lasts depends on the type of pool. Most in-ground pool liners last between six and 12 years, while aboveground pool liners last anywhere from six to 10 years. You can extend the life of your pool liner by maintaining proper pool chemistry, adding chemicals individually to avoid staining the liner, using a pool cover to protect it from the sun, and keeping sharp objects away from it.

Avoid pool liner wrinkles by moving slowly as you attach the edge of the liner to the pool wall. Add a few inches of water during this process and slowly walk from the center of the pool to the walls, lightly pressing the liner as you go. For an in-ground pool with a beaded liner, you can also use a wet-and-dry vac to suction out the remaining groundwater and air between the liner and the pool foundation.

Swimming pool liners are typically made out of vinyl, or you can commonly find PVC pool liners. These two liner materials are low-maintenance, making them easy to care for. Vinyl pool liners are common for residential swimming pools, while PVC liners are popular for commercial swimming pools. Both options are highly customizable to fit various sizes and shapes of pools.
